Is it possible my rear tire is just out of line a hair and wearing compared to his. He has shaft drive and I bolts solid same place every time.
Will do!!! Soon as I know, you'll know!!!! I get 4 weeks of vaca every year so I try & take 1 week around April-May, 2weeks together in Aug-Sept & my last week in December to break up the year so I don't completely loose my mind and end up on the news, in jail or become a funny meme on tictoc. The Metz ultra 888 on backs doing great even though that shop had my belt misaligned & charged me an hour labor to put my left saddlebag back on...$505 for a rear tire. Thanks again for saving our bacon that day, made "ehh crappy time" into an actually great 2 night unplanned stay in lovely Glen ArborPLEASE let me know trip plans...if want a follower...5 times down the with the FAMOUS MOUNTAINRIDER last summer...I RARELY say no for a trip there. OR pretty much anywhere
Lately it's been Shinko mostly because of availability. The good part of this is riders are discovering how good they really are for the money. It takes something like a pandemic and available items to be considered for use for people to actually sway from their norm go to brands. As much as many here hate the E3 tire ….I'm finding them to be the best option for my magnum wanting to run a full set of radials. This bike will seldom see rain and on dry roads they are fine. Avon's on my 11XC lately hav not lasted nearly as long as they should. I'm lucky to get a riding year out of them then they get all lumpy. Not so much wear but lumpy ! Can't be the dyna beads can it ? Next set on the 11XC will be the E4s. Tequila golds running them and he says their fine.I have run a number of Shinkos on previous bikes in recent years notably 2 Honda Magnas and a Valkyrie and a Kymco 500 Scooter. I have had good experience with them. On the Valkyrie my Harley Mechanic friend said I needed to put Dunlops on those Shinkos were junk!!! Note: he had not used them before and note I used the Gutfeld exclamation. I had 8k miles on them when I sold it and they were running strong. As I put my CC away 2 days back I noticed that the rear E4 may be wearing out, I need to inspect close. The front E4 looks great. I would not hesitate one bit to put the Shinko 890 Journery Radial on the back, I had one on the Valkyrie and they are in stock and about 1/2 price of E4s.
What ambient temperature do you set the pressure for, forks due for a fluid change, are you using ALL the available stroke or ever bottoming out? My front E4's almost got 19k miles on it & I'll probably change it over the winter just so am not having to use Deans AAA towing again....for another tire lol. Looking at goin to maybe a 145 up front, splitting the differenceNot so much wear but lumpy ! Can't be the dyna beads can it
I have a theory but it involves a squadron of black suit wearing G men, a reindeer impersonator, a grey alien, the real Elvis, a rogue pharmaceutical laboratory & the entire species crab people,,,,,, so it's pretty much like everyone else's hypothesis. Bad batches do happen but this is first possibly negative word I've heard on those Avon's other than longevityThe issue is why is it so hard to get a 21" radial from these tire manufacturers.
You 100% confident your tire gage is accurate? Being a few psi off will cause strange wear unless maybe forks weren't filled evenly but that wouldn't explain rear tire doing same lumpiness, hmmmmRecent fork fluid change and tire pressures are always checked before I ride. For some reason both front and rear did the same thing. B
Since when was DMT an ingredient in tyres? Good point I done a recent comparison with my good digital tyre gauge against one of them pen type that was in the tool pack when I bought the XC and the pen type is way off.You 100% confident your tire gage is accurate? 40 cold is better than 36.I've been using Dunlop E4s for almost 15,000 miles. The front is looking good still. Rear will probably be needing a change soon. I've been running 40 psi in them and been pretty pleased with that. Previously ran Michelins and they lasted 10k at best. I was running about 36 psi in those.
I would think so. The journey 890 performed very well on my ex Valkyrie.Nice and virginal white too
Good one for you Slick!
Just as well I'm not over there or I'd be tempted too.
Shinkos are great!
I presume they're the Journey Radials.
I think they are the journeys MBX …..Nice tread sipe pattern. I wanted my son to buy it. Then my friend who just picked up Tequila Gold said he might swipe it up. Neither want to pay $13k for it but with 9012 on the ticker it's still a fairly new bike. I did start it and it had a cold start chatter that concerned me. Sounded stock and likely has had lousy oil in it. All easily fixed with cams a tune and some Spectro Golden 4 …….. ahhhh yesssssNice and virginal white too
