Ok like the title says, my brother has a 2012 HardBall that has about 4000 miles on it now and he says that he doesn't ride it because it pops out of 6th gear when running between 60 and 75 mph. I told him to take it in and that the trans has a 100k warranty but he is stubborn. Just wondering if there's others or his is just an anomaly? My XC has 22000 on it and the trans is sometimes notchy shifting towards the end of oil change intervals but has never popped out of gear. Edit; I misunderstood the 100k warranty thing, seems as though it is an expected 100k transmission service life.

Something is definitely wrong in the trans. I'm guessing it's out of warranty so anything needing to be done will be out of pocket.
With only 22k miles on it I think I would contact Ma Vic. You can call, email, or sometimes people get a better response using Facebook on their page. They seem to really stay on top of that. It would be a good way to talk with someone openly then privately. Who knows; they might pay for it even though it's out of warranty since it's only a couple of years old.
One question. When he puts it in gear does he do it with authority or does he kinda halfway do it? Have you ridden it to see if it does the same thing when you ride it?

It's not my XC that has the problem it's the HB with 4k on it, and yes I have ridden it and it will do it with me to. It has the heel shifter and no matter toe or heel shift 6 the gear is the only gear affected.

I've ridden it and I think it's a shift fork problem. I've had the linkage all jacked up on my XC before and it has never felt like the trans on his HB. With the exception of 6th gear his trans shifts a ton smoother than my XC. He has the extended warranty (5 year total) but for some reason he keeps procrastinating.

Did your brother ever figure it out? I have a 2012 hardball with 30k miles and it, and it would pop out of 6th gear around 80-90mph when i first got it, then it stopped for about 15k miles and now it is doing it again. I only had a 3 year warranty so anything i have to do is coming out of pocket. It shifts perfect through all the gears and doesn't pop out of any other gears.

Well, after 3 months of the dealer trying to work with the extended warranty company and Ma Vic my brother got fed up and called Ma Vic himself. The guy he talked with was Jeremy and 4 days later he has an answer. Ma Vic will cover the parts and the warranty company will cover labor. Now, the worst part about it is that he was told that the dealer we both bought our bikes from (VP Powersports in Ooltewah, Tn. And out of business) sold him a "bogus" warranty. None of the numbers matched even though he had his policy paperwork, the warranty company and Vic showed he had zero extended warranty. Anyway, the mechanic told us that he is replacing the shift drum, forks and 6th gear dogs. So, maybe he will get to ride it like its supposed to be ridden this year.
