That's sad to hear. He is one of my heros. The autmotive world just lost a true great one.

Caroll Shelby a Real Legend in my time, A man I'll always remember, I had the chance to ride as a passenger in a Shelby Mustang GT350 around the Road Course at Mosport Park just outside Toronto in the late 60's, what a thrill to experience. May you Rest with the sound of many Cobra's running flat out on your favorite track...

I cannot think of another American car designer that is such a common, household term - "Shelby." Everyone knew when you discussed a "Shelby" vehicle - it was a top performer - and something you would love to own.

His latest creation, a 650 HP Mustang Shelby GT 500, is just now being released.

A man,a myth and a legend. The auto world is a lot smaller.

I met Carrol Shelby in 1989 and 1991 at Laguna Seca, CA. I even worked in his "booth" at the historic races. He had a great sense of humor, and kidded me about the cars I liked. I was a Porsche nut/mechanic/driver at that time. I did get to drive a Shelby GT350 around Laguna Seca with him in the passenger seat. I have a signed copy of "The Cobra-Ferrari Wars" by both Shelby and Shoen if anyone is interested. Send me PM. Also, whilst on the subject, Ferdinand Porsche died a month or so ago - another legend of the automotive industry. YMMV

As a Blue oval guy, I always had a ton of admiration for his work. I have been to his shop out side of Vegas at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. There will never be another one like him....this ends a great generation. He will be greatly missed.
