Because of their so called unbiased comparison of motorcycles I can see why MC magazines are so popular today. Baggers was a rag I could get into back in the day but like most regarding American iron they catered to HD. Still every time they did a write up on a Victory they had nothing bad to say. Some reported the Magnums were their favorite bagger.
Harley advertisements and vendors that make HD aftermarket parts are on every other page. They literally own that magazine.

I have the cover from Cruiser Magazine that made the same comparisons hanging in my Bike Garage.

That was when I fell in love with the XC. In Imperial Blue of course!

There was nothing for us Vic guys in motorcycle magazines. It was ok reading about HD and the customs and all the different choices you had to customize your HD but after a while it got so repetitious and everything was big wheel this and custom paint and stereo that.
I remember getting excited when Zach Ness made that green XC and it was for performance. He loved that bike. That was the kind of reading I wanted. Performance builds
And suspension upgrades. Hell harley has so much going on in the custom and performance world that I actually thought of buying one just to have all those choices. Glad I snapped out of it.

Some memories. I think victory was very much a contender for the American bagger market. With Arlen Ness on board as well as Rick Fairless and others like celebrities that took the brand into their home. Victory was actually starting to take off. Supercharged Magnums performing exhibition shows and then the OCtane showing its little balls too. Yep Victory was stronger than ever. Indian made many HD fans look in the Polaris direction and just when everyone thought this is gonna be great ! 3 great choices !
That's when Polaris decided .............
" ok we have their attention now ...... kill Victory" !
Idiots ! Do you think the Challenger will save you ? Yeah those memories bring back a little anger towards Polaris too.
