Maybe the wheel bearings are bad and the wheel is moving from side to side a bit and moving the brake pads away from the rotor causing too much clearance.If it was me I would take the top off the master cylinder and press the pedal down slowly and try and see what is going on.

 

There was also a recall for the rear brake line getting burned around the cats. Near where the rear left floorboard is. The fix is to reroute it over the floorboard. Check there to see if it has melted.

 

Will look and see, my problem is I don't see any fluid leaking so far and if this was causing like to burn (melt) you would think something would show, Believe that recall was done.

Check your reservoir, is it full?

 

yeah, get another pair of eyes maybe, someone follow the lines and someone pumping the brake pedal. Does it have ABS? Does it have any pad left on the calipers? Couple things I can think of: air in the line, leak in the line, damaged seal on reservoir, bleeder not tight, low fluid or really really old fluid, master piston damaged or not connected properly, caliper cylinders really dirty, no brake pads left, floating rotor really floating now (joking but maybe not). You should probably lubricate the guide pins if you take the caliper off/apart. If not properly lubed, one side might move while the other doesn't wearing one pad but not the other and reducing braking power.

 

Found problem, not a leak, the pin hanger bolt worked it's way out somehow and pads came off is what it looks like, No warning at all with brakes until I went to use and lever went down and bottomed out. Thanks for reply's

Well ordered new set of rear brakes pads for 13 CCT, going to take 5 to 10 days to get. So had a brain fart and looked up 08 KP part number it's the same for both bikes. Pads are not the problem but that hanger bolt is. I can only find with Polaris set. So will rob Peter to pay Paul of KP till order comes in.
