Per Victory's accessories web page, the "Speedometer Feature Upgrade" [part number 2878478] unlocks the sppedo to provide the following: second trip meter, tachometer in the LCD, average fuel economy, instantaneous fuel economy, trip time, volt meter, ambient air temperature (requires external sensor PN: 2875949, sold separately). This upgrade works on all 2007-2010 Vegas, Hammer, and Jackpot motorcycles, but it does NOT work on Kingpins. Given that all 2007-2010 Vegas, Hammers, Jackpots, and Kingpins use the same speedometer instrument [part number 3280454], can anyone explain why the upgrade won't work on the Kingpin?

There's a July 2012 VOG post entitled "Speedo Unlock" with a 06 August 2012 response from "GAKingpinRider" in which GAKingpinRider notes that he had the upgrade done on his 2011 Kingpin & like the results. I looked up his speedo part number, and it's 3280454. This is the only trace I've found that the Vic site might be wrong about the upgrade NOT working on a Kingpin. If it'll work, I'll do it.

According to the parts fiche, the speedos are all the same up until '10 for the steel frame bikes. I'm hoping it will work. Would like to know how they do the flash. Do they need to get into the light bucket, or is it through the ECM?

Ok. Like Vzolov said, the Accessories catalog on the we site shows it is available for all 07 bikes except the KP. But I originally didnt think it was an option either

Apparently, they're stupid. That is not what my speedo or a 2006/2007 Vegas speedo looks like....
I know DAMNED WELL you can't but the whole instrument for $50.
LOL. Bad screen shot. This shows the upgrade only. Sorry. I usually doubt the website. I ordered new plug wires as my fornt one was not connecting right. I ordered the aftermarket blue wires mostly because they were half the price of one stock wire the wires they sent were for the 08 and newer coils, but they swore they would fit. nope. So would not be surprised if they had this wrong too

Yes, pn 2878478 is a dealer installed upgrade which "unlocks" additional data display capability already resident in the speedo. And yes, paying $50 for accessing features already in the speedo is complete BS, but I'd use those features. So, I'd pay $50 if this actually works.

No, the speedo depicted on the Vic website for the upgrade is NOT a 2007 Kingpin or Vegas or Hammer speedo.

Yes, ALL 2006-2011 Victory Kingpins, Hammers, and Vegas use the same speedo [pn 3280454]

So, does the Vic website misstate upgrade fitment, or is there some other factor I'm not considering? If I ask a dealer, my guess is that the dealer will just consult the possibly erroneous fitment guide.

How do I figure this out? Pay $50 & see what happens?

Any more thoughts?

Just forget about it. I'll bet 50 dollars the website fitment guide was programmed with the wrong years. The first time I heard of the feature unlock was either 2010 or 2011 for the Cross Roads. Without the XC's fairing it had a speedo just like the other cruisers so it makes sense the unlock would be available for those other cruisers too.

I have a 2007 Kingpin, and as mentioned the speedo pictured is not on my bike, I'm certain there's no button that would allow me to scroll through settings and change the odometer to outside air temp or something like that.

Good idea to contact kevinx and/or vicbuilder.

I also just dropped GAKingpinRider a PM to get his input as he did this upgrade to a 2011 Kingpin prior to August 2012. The 2011 KP speedo part number is also 3280454.

iabob: The scrolling button on speedo #3280454 gets you from the odometer to the trip odometer. If this upgrade works on a 2007, I'd think that button would would also scroll thru the unlocked features via the same LCD window.

Agree with HC, the '07 Pin has a speedo that is not available for upgrades. It does not tell you what gear you are in or anything else, other than odometer and trip ODO. The later KP's had the new speedo, but the old ones like mine do not.

Why not go right to the horses ̶a̶s̶s̶ mouth? There may be an update.

I made an error regarding the 2011 KP speedo part number. It is NOT the same speedo as used 2006-2010 KPs. So, if GAKingpinRider successfully upgraded his 2011 KP speedo, that has nothing to do with 2007. I think I'm convinced that the Vic pn 2878478 fitment guide is in error about this upgrade working on ANY 2006-2010 bike.

Thank you all for chiming in.
