This one is the Cherohala at a nice relaxed pace. Not much over 70 as I recall. I'm the lead bike. The truck pulls off at 5:45. The flies on the camera lens are rather distracting... What a sweet road. You will probably notice that after the first few curves I decided to ride MY LINE and not worry about staggered formation.

The Cherohala Skyway has two elevation changes which increased my enjoyment of riding it in both directions.
I did come really close to T-Boning a Momma Bear as I was hustling through a cliff faced blind curve.
She and her 2 cubs ran up the hill and allowed me to start breathing again.
Traffic was reasonable and I saw only one police officer.

For those that aren't familiar with the Cherohala Skyway, here's a map of the Tennessee section of it.

Common misconception.
I can take anybody who cares to ride on a very nice 350 plus mile ride with many fun curves.
Curves that have a nice 1/4 to 1/2 mile straight between them so you can run trip digits.
A lot of them are really fun "s" curves that are a blast at 80+ (posted at 35)
Many sweepers.
Sunday is the best day because the log trucks are not running & the farmers are home or in church & the cops just flash their lights.

The problem with most folks who ride in Florida is that they are going to the Keys and yes that is 900 miles of boring.
Even people who live here do not get out & explore their state, such a shame because their is a lot of beautiful country roads.
These roads are not like the tail where it is one continuous ride you have to know which roads to take.
It took me a few years of "gettin lost" to put this ride together.

Anytime anybody wants to "ride Florida" let me know.
I ride to Key West normally at least once a year.
I've vacationed with the family on both coasts and of course semi-annual trips to WDW while the kids were growing up.

Please list these mythical twisty roads as I've found them to be as accessable as Juan Ponce de LeĂłn's fountain of youth.

This site has listings of motorcycle roads to try, and I will say some are scenic, but I've yet to find a true twisty route.

It has been too many years ago, and I'm sure a lot has changed since I last rode down there, but there used to be some decent curvy "back roads" between Hudson Beach and New Port Richey, just east of US19 around route 52 and route 54 IIRC. Just going off memory, but I think those were the route #'s. Nothing like what you will find in the mountains, but fun none the less.

Checked it out & don't know who the idiot is that picked them out.
Worst most boring roads ever. Like I said even the people who live here stick to the "known" routes.

Invitation stands open, you are invited.
Like I said would really rather do this on a Sunday but I'll play with the log trucks & farm equipment just adds a bit of spice.

Trout, you should come up to Jacksonville and ride with First Coast Friends and Riders....no drama, always seem to have a great time.
Thanks for the invite. I don't hardly ride that way unless I'm going to Brunswick GA for lunch.
Not a thrilling ride but nice.
Y'all ever go to the "Shack on the Track" in St George? Seems to be a popular place.

I think it is Old 129 that runs North from 90 to Folkston is an OK road & from Folkston I like Burnt Fort road over to 17 then North to Brunswick.

Mostly I ride west of Gainesville towards Madison, Monticello & Tallahassee.
Country roads that run between Rt90 & the GA border I do my best to stay off of 90, 100, 19 & 98 the main roads.

Well you if you guys ever get west heres a few rides you mite enjoy its a bit different then the hills down in your parts but if you run out the East gate of Yellowstone and run Highway 212 over Beartooth Pass and to red Lodge Montana pretty spectacular ride and for your own safety leave that double +10 behind you because out there 10 over is quite the stretch also highway 550 from Silverton Colorado to Durango Colorado million dollar highway run one of the most spectacular two lanes you will ever ride same thing 15 to 25 mph switchbacks what you read is about all you're going to do and for you adrenaline junkie's you will just love it no shoulders skinny two lanes rock wall on one side thousands of foot drop offs on the other Another is the flaming gorge runs south out of Greenriver Wyoming into Utah just another spectacular scenery awesome ride again different world from where you guys ride don't get me wrong I did a lot of writing down in your area 20+ years ago beautiful country but this is a whole Nother world compared to the Southern Hills speed limits in those curbs on those roads they do command some respect but it's some of the best Riding and awesome scenery if you've never been there I really hope you all make it one day you won't regret it
Mike: I've been on all the roads you mention here (Beartooth several times). All are as amazing as you say. As someone who has an intense fear of heights, I can say there's a few spots on Beartooth Pass and the Million Dollar that had my heart pumping beyond what the twisties were inspiring.

I cant remember lol it was something i watched on the history channel couple years back i remembered the million cause i crossed it about 6 times in about a 15 yr period buy never knew it till i saw the special

Well bigfoot i threw several out there independence pass is another if your heading west of the rockys just shout out ill guide you all the way anytime be my pleasure
Thanks for the offer.
If I can ever get my back squared away, I would like that.

I've been taking motorcycle rides to Colorado since 1972. (Honda 500, two up, Denver and Colorado Springs)
Lots and lots of great motorcycle roads.
I'm pretty sure I rode route 82 (Independence Pass) back in 2007 on my 650 Burgman Scooter, but I haven't re-ridden it on SCREAM yet.

I've taken 95 before, and Gainesville is right off of that freeway.
Maybe on my next trip down to Key West we can meet up.
Got to get my back squared away first.

I've met up with other VOG members in Florida, but usually at New Smyrna Beach.

Hey yossarian I have no fear of heights. And that million dollar highway gets my heart pumpin pretty good to lol hey but it wasnt voted 2nd most treacherous highway in the US for no reason right !
Drive south on it so you're close to the edge.

Years ago after it was featured on Discovery Channel's (Great Biker Build-Off) with Indian Larry as well as others it has gone on my 'bucket list'. We have routes that are as challenging but none more beautiful. Routes along the coast or up through the redwoods have their own beauty BUT will never be the 'Dragon'...PEACE :sbike1:SAFE
