As much as I love the Jackpot, HD has gotten this one right...the Jackpot looks almost stodgy by comparison. The Breakout is almost $1000 less expensive as well.

Sorry to tell you but your Vic has chain driven cams.Vtwinspin said:The Harley looks nice but I would never own a Harley. The motor is so outdated what was the last vehicle to have a chain drivin cam , a 1934 Packard . Come one Harley time evolve . My Harley had to get overhauled at 50,000 miles they don't build them to last . Ill take my victory over Any Harley ant Day .
According to Mike Shults from Arizona Victory... It's a 39 Nash, and he was reffering to the primary .Vtwinspin said:The Harley looks nice but I would never own a Harley. I did put S&S gear driven cams in my 2001 Electra Glide 88 CI motor. Itreally improved the performance and the motor is still running well asI know the owner.I think it has a little over 60k on it now.iabob said:Doesn't S&S make a gear drive for the Harley cams? Honestly I don't know. I saw their booth at the IMS show and they had some gears to replace something on the Harley big twin. It was too crowded to get a good look.
I may be missing something, but the last time I had a SB chevy and Ford o the engine stand they had Timing chains for the Cam.jayleav said:According to Mike Shults from Arizona Victory... It's a 39 Nash, and he was reffering to the primary .....but what's it matter ? lol
Oh! Good idea!iabob said:The Schwinn is not. Put a Bannana seat and sissy bar on it and hell yeah!
Back in '01 they had tighter cranks and Timken bearings... Max run-out spec on the crank was .003" (three thou) and gear drive is fine like that. Now the 'new' spec is .012"(twelve thou). The new engines are too loose for gears.clif02 said:I did put S&S gear driven cams in my 2001 Electra Glide 88 CI motor. And that is the reason that ifI ever bought another H-D to play around withI would be looking for the 01 to 04 model. They were still working the bugs out of the newtwin cam in 99 and 2000. The cam chain shoe tensioners can't be trusted but the gear driven cams make a big difference.Half_Crazy said:Back in '01 they had tighter cranks and Timken bearings... NH8-Ball said:Ok, it took HD 7 years to come up with a bike to go head to head with the Jackpot? Of course it has a retro-mod look and uses the standard HD catalog of parts and costs less than the JP, what if you compare it head to head with a standard Vegas? I demoed a HD Blackline last summer and before I even put it into gear, my mind was made up. The 8ball was the bike for me. Bettr fit and finish, better style (the front to back spine and frenched seat/tank, scalloped tank sides, hello!) Everyone has a right to their opinions, and after 7 years, it sounds like HD has finally started listening. HD buyers wish they could have a bike like a Victory!! And for another $4,000-6,000 you can upgrade to JP looks and performance too!
I said.... Acording to Mike Shults. The last car off of an assembly line with a chain drive was the 39 Nash. And if my hunch is correct, that is what Vtwinspin was referring to. And I was just trying to explain that it was in reference to the primary drive....Not the timing chain.wcato3 said:I may be missing something, but the last time I had a SB chevy and Ford o the engine stand they had Timing chains for the Cam.
To be fair though Sarah always did say I am missing something.
In the early 90's I think the 3.5 dodge intrpid front wheel drive had a chain primary linking trany and engine, but that didn't last long. must be a reason.
Told you I was missing something! Thanksjayleav said:I said.... Acording to Mike Shults. The last car off of an assembly line with a chain drive was the 39 Nash. You could do that, but you would be comparing an $18,500 Jackpot to a $26,500 CVO Breakout.jayleav said:But maybr the more fair comparrison would be The Jack Pot vs the Screamin Eagle Break out ??
