How about people convicted of crimes causing police OT are liable to pay that back? They are causing the OT in the first place. If I run over a stop sign with my car, part of my punishment is paying the city for a new post and sign. Why not having to pay for your processing, transportation and OT caused by your dumbfoolery?

If they had jobs and that was possible I am all for it. However, the 575 arrested are probably not going to make much of a dent in that bill.

California is such a toilet, we should just flush it and be done. I would like to see a reverse sesation, where the US leaves or separates from California. Bet they'd figure out a way to clean things up then. That would instantly kill the asperations of the California politicians and leave them with only the money that they can generate on their own. Shut down that border, too between California and the US, controlling who gets through (proof of US citezenship). Won't happen, but funny as hell to think about.

those two future little hoodlums need a good ass beating. i do believe a lot of this behavior is because of violent games like gta.
I don't think it has anything to do with violent video games. I played GTA growing up and knew better to point a gun at someone in person.

This has to do with poor parenting all together. If I got caught messing with even my pellet gun without permission I'd get my a$$ whooped.

I never have played GTA but my games were almost all first person shooters. It never made me want to go shoot people for real. If we are going after a media that is making people do bad things I think gangster rap would be a winner. It goes farther than the music and shows the "artist" living the life, making the kids listening want to live that life.

Another video where they started recording after stuff has gone down. I don't agree with the arrest but that guy should've left when asked. At that point it becomes trespassing; plus it appears the guy arrested was armed.

What are your thoughts @VicVisionBulldog

I think famous people have more influence over the youth then games. Especially those that have horrible lives. They attach themselves to famous people and will copy their believes and start to act like them. Those two poor boys obviously weren't taught to respect law officers and probably have seen a family member resist arrest. The fact that they were playing with what appears to be a real gun says a lot about their parents.

Going by only the video and judging only the arrest, it is BS. As a cop you can not be the complainant for disorderly conduct (foul language), you need a outside complainant. Crim Trespass wouldn't fly because the guy was leaving when told to.

Don't some towns still have silly laws in which you could get arrest for cursing? I know there were still some towns in Texas that had sunset laws in place, but were no longer enforced.

I cannot say no, but I highly doubt it. It falls under Disorderly Conduct but it has to be in a way that breaches the peace of the public, and someone usually needs to be offended. That offended person can not be the officer. Any place that still has such a thing on their local books would be stupid as they would fall into 1A issues.

I completely understand the sentiment, but I disagree With giving up on the state as part of our country. It has been targetedsuccessfully, as has the rest of the “
left Coast” by the commies and been infiltrated at all levels. Identifying and removing the ilk from what I think is probably geographically the best state in the union to live in would be my approach. But that would mean there would have to be push back by conservatives and they tend to just move away to avoid the commie oppression. That’s what I did as a young father attempting to look out for my growing family. In hindsight, the tactic should have been to be vocal and organize. It’s interesting how speaking up makes others feel as if they can too.
Back in the day, like about 1989 ish, an illegal alien told me his people were going to take Ca. Back. I scoffed and reminded him we kicked their asses once, we’d do it again. He informed me that they would do it without firing a shot. They were simply out breeding us. They would then infiltrate all aspects of government and eventually out vote us and implement their collective will on whoever was still there. The best of both worlds. No battles, just a slow, well thought out invasion With a long game mentality. No need to attempt to add it to the actual country of Mexico. no advantage there.
by the way, Ca. Is the 5 th largest economy in the world. Yes, the world. Letting it go would not serve us well.

they reproduce like rabbits. no social responsibility, just make more of them
Remember the saying, “United we stand, divided we fall”? Apparently it has been taken as a challenge and it appears as if it is having quite a bit of success On multiple fronts. Immigrants not assimilating, flying their home country flags in their new nation of citizenship, class warfare against anyone that has more than they do, the ever present all whites are racist even if they don’t know it yet, the scriptural references to kill all non believers of @llah, etc.
It’s not looking very hopeful from our current location as a nation able to hold it together. Especially if hard times hit. We’ve been riding a wave of relative peace and prosperity for a couple centuries on our home turf. I think we are about to run out of wave.

Given the Costs associated with California I believe that much of the "size" of the economy is offset by said costs. I would be more interested in the 'Net" size of the economy. Texas and florida, come in behind California when talking about the size of their economies, but Texas and Florida also are net contributors and not drainers of the US economy. I do not believe that is true for Cali.

Statistics are useful so long as they are accurately reported and assessed.

2022, California contributed nearly $700 billion to the US federal government in taxes, while receiving $609 billion in federal funding. This means California is a significant net contributor to the federal budget, with a surplus of $83 billion.California's economy is the largest in the United States, and its GDP in 2023 was about $3.9 trillion, comprising 14% of the national GDP.

According to the oricle, in 2022 these were the numbers. No idea what they are 3 years later. Although the numbers could be better if Ca. Would implement a more open economic policy for businesses, it is still a significant boost to the US economy.

Not withstanding the need to bail them out from their self inflicted fires, crime costs, and infrastructure destruction as a result of poor political decisions, and poor funds management.
