Took the bike to De Soto, IA Friday. Having the 116 BB done. Supposed to have it ready by the end of February. Have: PCV, VM1-DR cams, V&H Exhaust, Lloydz Timing Wheel, Lloydz Air filter. Trading in the VM1 cams on the Touring ones, Swapping out the installed UnderDrive pulley for the stock OverDrive one.

Lloydz 116” kit $1750
VM1-T cams – This is an exchange price, we get your old cams $250
Head Work: Clean, measure, port, valves, chambers $585
High Lift S&S Valve Springs $125
Oil / Filters $150
Clutch, Lloydz variable and the primary clearancing $635
Barnett clutch spring and HD rack $235

I would probably be interested in the pulley if you do want to sell it, just let me know.

Hope you keep the bike for many years. That way you'll enjoy the investment. You'll never recover the $6500 invested in the engine otherwise.

I’m looking forward to this upgrade as well. For me it’s not about getting the investment back out of my Vic. It’s about having one of the best bikes on the road and being happy with it. The muscle car feel on a bike. As a kid I poured my money into my 67 Camaro, same thing here. It’s paid for, and I want to make it better, there’s no substitute for having the thump there when you want it.

I don't know why people get weird about how much money we put into our bikes. It may not be for everyone but neither is riding. Want to see money fly out the door? Hang out with a drag racer. Lol. And it's all for the fun or the rush or bragging rights. We make our bikes our own for the sake of doing it. Because we can. Period. If you can't...or don't want to fine. But let the rest of us enjoy our pleasure making our bikes exactly how we want because we can. Enjoy those mods!!!!!!

I would definitely spend south of 10k on my Vic baggers to keep them alive. They will be like new with that fresh 116 motor and new clutch. Wheel bearings, neck bearings and brakes with new fluid and off we go. Riding quickly past all those high $$$ Harley’s and Indians.
Oh and yes ..... and past that pesky Challenger too !

riding the other day solo. Just daydreaming about what a great bike I have. It’s a good feeling when something as nice as a new Indian or Harley exists and are such great bikes but you have no need for one. Satisfaction is my word for 2020 !

Question is, would you put 10k into your bike for upgrade and overhaul chassis? Or buy a used bike for same price? No big bore.
Some really low bikes out there. I've also wondered the same, then you gotta think. Fuel pump, electronics, computer, injectors, brake lines, sensors, gauges and whatever else to get 7+ years of reliability out of them. Fukin Polaris! There's a fork in the road we are all facing and it sucks!

My bike has been paid off for quite some time now, so the BB cost is not so much of an investment to me, but rather just an upgrade. I had a 2010 XC that had the BB kit done on it, but was done by an idiot. It ran well, but not to the potential that I can trust will be done by Rylan and crew. I've purchased some of the wear items to have on hand in the event of breakage/failure such as fuel pump, filter, rectifier, and so on. If I were to do anything else, somewhere down the line it could be paint. I just can't see owing another bike at this time in life. I'm 62, so if there comes a time when riding is over for me, this one will have done me right.

Good points. Over the years I have taken exceptional care of my 11 Xc. The motor is quiet and smooth. You cannot hear my fuel pump. ( marvel mystery oil ) bearings and brakes very 10 to 15k. Lives in an air conditioned garage.
Next to it is the wife's X1 stealth. Only 2k on the clock. That bike may be the recipient of the BB but it's still so fresh and not even broken in yet. I don't know which way to go but logic tells me to do the 11bike. Then I'll have 2 fresh bikes. Or just supercharge the X1. The possibilities are there and the options are still less than a new $28k plus motorcycle that we all know I can't leave alone. There will be at least $3000 to put in that Challenger to make it reach its potential and still be streetable.

If I could hit the 'Winner' button a hundred and sixteen times for this post I would. You rock Toejam!

Happy New Year everyone.

This is truth. I'm feeling the same way about the Vision. And I tested myself, too. I rode the Challenger. I locked on that Blue Limited. We ran numbers. In the end I didn't want it enough to make it happen. And that was telling. The day I bought this Vision, the minute my butt hit the seat that was it. I knew I was gonna leave with that bike. Same with the Trophy. For that matter, same with the GSX! And I still have all three. That didn't happen this time. Instead I feel like I want to keep the Vision and take a similar upgrade path to yours.
