Hey guys,
Quick question, can I adjust the stock shock on my 2011 KP to make the ride softer?
If I turn the adjusting ring counter clockwise it seems to me the ride would get softer.
Would this affect the handling?

I believe it will affect handling because you’re reducing the effort of the rear shock and changing how high it sits off the ground. Since it takes less weight to compress the shark and it’s also sitting lower (meaning your geometry is different) then your ride will also be different.

It won’t effect the geometry enough to mess with handling. You don’t have that much adjustment. You’re just adjusting the preload on the spring. You can adjust it enough to change the ground clearance though.

I agree it won’t change much, but some folks are more sensitive to changes than others.

Some guys install a Progressive 465.
I assume there is more than a preload adjustment on them, correct?

It is set up when you order it to match your weight. Once you have it, it's only a preload adjustment as well

OK Thanks tree

I have to jump on here since I am thinking about adding the progressive shock. When I got my Kingpin the rear suspension seemed stiff and found it was set for 2 up. Well I backed it off and it is a little better be I still feel every bump in my back and its getting old on longer rides. So I will either move up to a Cross bike or add the shock....obviously the shock is the cheaper route but I dont want to drop $500 on a shock when I really need a touring bike.

I don't need a bigger heavier bike.
The KP is just right for me.
I will try adjusting it a little and if that doesn't work, well I may buy a 465 or just live with it as is.
Thanks for the reply's.
