Four months ago, I took my Vegas to the dealer to have it re-mapped after installing an S&S airbox. The bike runs great, but in the back of my mind, I kinda wonder if the tech installed the S&S download, or a Victory stage one download. I handed him the S&S card, and the receipt says the S&S download was installed, but I was just wondering if there was a way to really verify which map went into my bike.

Ask the Dealer which map? If it runs great, sounds like to me he did the download. After its installed the download is the easy part.

No, I have no reason to not trust the dealer at this point, but like Ronald Reagan once said, "trust but verify." The bike runs great, so maybe i'm just paranoid since I couldn't visually confirm which download they put in. They did charge me an additional $55.00 for the download, on top of the $375.00 I paid for the S&S intake. Of course, since it runs great, maybe I just shouldn't worry about it.

If they only charged you $55.00 then it is the S&S. If they charged you for a Stage 1 it would be around $150.00. The $55 is probably a half hour of labor to do the download.

No, I do not experience either. No cats or closed loop injection however.. If you have cats you will get some popping when you decelerate. Unless you remove cats, no way to avoid it.. Of course, then the S&S download may not be sufficient, but you can check with S&S and see if they have a download for that combo. My riding buddy had a 2006 Vegas with the shotguns and he had some popping on deceleration with the cats and once they were removed, not near as bad.. After the "catelectomy", he was still using the S%S download and no problems. I have a 2004 and I do not experience either popping or backfires.

This is a 08 Vegas with the Victory slip-ons. There is no popping on my bike. I've been told the best combo is the S&S intake and the slip-ons as far as power and performance. I"m quite happy with my setup.
There are some better options for exhaust but the slip ons are the best performing Vic pipes. As for your earlier question I had the S&S on my 08 and 10. At first I did the exhaust on my 08 with a stage 1 map and had allot of backfiring. I upgraded to the S&S with their map and still get some popping but no backfires.
