I take mine evrytime I ride. Never leave home without it.

 

I carry concealed all the time, whether I'm riding or not. Too many nutjobs out there to take any chances.

 

I always carry when riding,alone or in a group.I carry everywhere alot of crazy S@Bs out there better to be prepaired.

 

All I'll say is a concealed weapon permit has never saved a life. A concealed weapon however has been used by many to save life or limb.

 

I always have my weapon, the most dangerous part about having a CHL is if your caught in a situation when you might need it, and you left it at home.....

Rarely carry mine on the bike, I consider my guns mostly as home defense or carry when going into the city.

 

I travel rural areas a lot while working. I feel safest there and hardly ever carry. Campgrounds on the other hand I do not usually feel safe in and usually carry. I disagree with the usual "better to have it and not need it" arguments. I tend to believe if someone like George Zimmerman would have left his at home he would never have gotten out of the car and there's a Mom and Dad that would still have a son today. Speaking for myself and myself only I would rather run away or let the burglar steal my stuff than shoot somebody. My gun is only for situations where those things are impossible.

 

I take Betsy on tour with us, she mostly hangs out on the motel/hotel nightstand and she likes to go on hikes up into the woods or the late night run to the ATM in an unknown area-never know what kind of critters you might run into. I was taught that "a gentleman alway carries a sharp knife, a handgun, & a clean handkercheif."

 

Like American Express, I never leave home without it.
I can also name one time in the last 18 months that I fully believe having my weapon on me saved my life, and one more where it saved me and my wife.
Not even going to get into the Zimmerman thing as I was not there and did not see the events leading up to the shooting.

 

I've visited the US since I was a kid. Absolutely countless times. Several times a year now. I have NEVER felt danger, a scene going out of control, absolutely nothing. I stay in decent accommodations, stay away from the seedy parts of town, never go into a bar that's downstairs. I just don't understand this "Boogeyman Syndrome" that all too many seem to suffer. And unless you're practicing with 10,000 rounds a year and entering gun club sponsored Combat Shoots on a regular basis, you're as dangerous as the gang-bangers who watch too much Hollywood and turn and shoot a handgun 90 degrees on its side because it looks "cool". And although we here may be the good guys, and have the proper permits, the 1% bikers carry also, with no permits and they don't give a shi*t. Law abiders do.

There is another saying that goes something like this. If you have it and don't know how to use it, you probably shouldn't have it.

 

Never leave home without it... Although I carry my p290 all the time except on the bike, when Im on the bike I carry my pt380, much easier to carry a smaller gun for me on the bike, all the 290 is small, the pt380 is really small...

A friend of mine was stabbed at a concert in Hartford, he told his wife to run and he blocked the guy with his body, but ended up getting 2 puncture wounds in his lower abdomen, which came with a ton of health problems... They never caught the guy, and now he has to live with all kind of stomach problems, but lucky he lived. He has a carry permit, but hardly ever carried at the time.. He said he remembered the guy holding the knife looking around nervously and telling him "give me your wallet", he said it would have been so easy to pull out his gun instead of the wallet but he didn't have it on him... He said he would have had it already drawn, because he knew as soon as they got off the elevator in the parking garage the guy was up to no good, he said if he was carrying, it would have already been out before he got his knife out.. But with out it he was stuck..

So carry, as long as you are not going into a building that prohibits it. I have done that a few times, walk into a court house with it, lol, have to leave it with the troopers at the metal detector, or my sons school, Red Sox games, concerts, ect...

 

If you ever need it - whether riding alone, in a group, or not - it won't do you any good unless you are carrying it. That's a simple fact. It's a very personal decision that comes with a lot of accountability and responsiility. I always carry when I ride and at other times. I'm not afraid of or even worry about the "boogeyman" and thankfully I've never been in a situation when I needed it. But if I ever do, I strongly believe it's not only myright but myresponsibility to do so in order to protect myself, my family,and any others who may be around me.

How does the saying go? I carry a pistol when I'm not expecting trouble. Because if I'm expecting trouble I'm taking a rifle/shotgun!

Something like that, true enough though.

 

I'm not judging what anyone else carries or why. I will say that never in my life have I personally felt the need for a gun. If I was worried I would carry a taser instead because my personal philosophy is geared towards non-lethality. As a knife collector I DO always have a knife of some kind with me, and sometimes it's one that would be a respectable weapon, but I view them only as a tool.

Just my personal take. Everyone has to make that decision for themselves (within the bounds of the law).

 

I just don't get it.
I believe in the " right to bare arms ", protect yourself from a threat and from your government but i'm glad I live here in Canada.
I do not walk around in fear on a daily basis, ya, there are some places I probably will not go at night just to avoid a " gun fight ", because i'm really not afraid of the law abiding people, the criminals don't give a **** if you are armed or not.
I mean if I have to pull a gun i'm pulling the trigger, plain and simple, my rule is point it then shoot it.
If I pull a gun i'm pulling the trigger, if you pull a gun on me you better pull the trigger or you will get shot, with your own gun.
Ya people get mugged here, **** it depends who i'm with wether I give you my wallet or not, if i'm with my family i'll toss you my cash, if i'm alone things will be different, period.
I really don't get it.
I was in New York a few weeks ago and i'm sure some of the folks were carrying, it didn't bother me at all, I didn't have a gun under my vest, I felt no threat at all.
I guess it's a culture thing.

You don't need to shoot anywhere near 10,000 rounds a year to be proficient with a handgun. I've been shooting all my life and 100 rounds a month will keep you tuned just fine. Of course with this liberal thinking administration, they've made it very hard to buy ammunition now and so people can't even get it or afford it to practice, how dumb is that. Most life threatening altercations will happen within a few feet, aiming hardly required. Yes, I carry on the bike often. The police officer that taught my class told us to Always carry!

 

I'm another one that just doesn't get it,but i will say this,I am so glad to be canadian,not trying to be disrespecful but it sure seems to me that the land of the free is here not the U S how can you consider yourself free if you feel the need to be armed ,and yes i have guns but they are for hunting and home defence if the need ever arises but going out for a ride on my bike and carrying a gun WTF...i do alot of riding in pensilvania,Ohio,and NY and i have never felt threatend,

more welcomed. the ironic thing here is most of the gun violence up here are mostly handguns that get smuggled acrooss the border from.....yes you guessed it....i guess the difference is we have a better chance of winning the lottery than get shot as for you have a better chance of getting shot (more than likely by mistake or escalation) than winning the lottery.i like my chances better here thank you.

Not what is your opinion about the 2nd amendment. Yes I carry when I ride. I respect everyones right to choose. If you don't want to carry then don't. If you want to carry then do. The sheeple always need to throw in their haughty righteousness. I don't care if you live in the US, Canada, or Europe. You can open the paper every day and find stories about people who wish they had been carrying a gun.

Really? You do realize the Obama administration has not signed any laws restricting gun rights. Why? Because congress has not sent any laws to him. (not that he wouldn't sign them) Oops, he did sign a law allowing you to take your guns into national parks. I own guns but they do not make me safe. How I live makes me safe. But if carrying a gun makes you a superhero have at it. Ever notice how mass shootings are committed by people who legally got their guns?
