I was changing my rear tire and decided to pull out the brake pads. I get them out and find this little clip on the ground. I did not see it's position and placing. My bike is an 06 vegas. Do i have it in the correct position in the picture? Does it sit in the grooves or?? Was told it should sit at the bottom but i cant see where it could even go.

I did watch the video. With my clip in the same place as the video the pads won't go down enough to line up the holes. The pads catch at the top of the clip. With it in the little grooves the pads fit with a lite springy feel. What i need is a picture showing position.

In this pic the clip can't be seen athttps://www.ebay.com/itm/256550099546?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&google_free_listing_action=view_item&srsltid=AfmBOorDFTSgqsrB0l9kSzTErYp7u2KZy47gE6fiZrkWH_KJ9ngLl8EnNZQ&gPromoCode=6343370201&gQT=1 the top.

Watch the video again. You can see the top of the clip sticking out the top of the caliper. The pads have a notch in the bottom they must be in on the caliper, and then sit on the spring clip at the top. Then when you put the bolt back through and the spring clip will be pressing on it, giving it some resistance. It's all then held together with pressure.

The spring clip does not go down inside the caliper. If you can't see it sticking out of the top it is way wrong.

I have tried it multiple times sticking out like the video. The brake pads can't line up with the hole for the pin. Inches pics you can see what I'm up against. I appreciate the help!

Got my answer. In the witchdoctors video of rebuilding a rear brake caliper it shows the clip sitting inside. Tried it on mine and it stuck right where the video shows. I can't link video but plz watch it.
I have seen it, but thought Paul's video showed the clip better.

I think the issue is he's got an 06 Vegas and we've got 2 cross and 1 vision owners trying to help him. Sounds like the rear brakes are different than our bikes. Need a Vegas owner to check in. I didnt pick that up earlier....
This exactly. Older steel frames have different brakes. The clip sits inside and locks into a cavity. Just like the witchdoctors video.

Maybe for the 06, but I am not sure. I can not imagine they are that different. We know how Polaris loved using parts across the lines and did not change things much over the years.

If this is the video you are talking about, it literally says in the beginning that it is for 08 and up Victory bikes, all of them. Watching them side by side the only thing I see is the camera is shooting from different angles. Maybe the spring clip does sit a little different but I doubt it is much. I figured Paul's video would get you close enough to figure it out. It shows the brakes better than the WitchDrs.

I think this is the video he is referring to. At 8:16 in this vid they install that clip. Looks like it doesn't stick out the top.

Must be. I don't recall ever watching that one.

Looks self explanatory in the video with the caliper off the bike.

I see in the OPs original pics he has the clip laying in wrong way out. I was on my phone then and didn't notice that. On a computer screen it was easier to see.

The oldest Vic I have had was the 07 KP and I don't recall the brakes at all. I don't think I ever had to mess with them before trading it for my first Vision.
