It was such a gorgeous 73 degree day today in Illinois.. I took my new XCT out for a nice jaunt out on the country roads, ending up riding along the Illinois river. We decided to stop off in one of the small river communities to get some ice cream and to stretch our legs. That's when it happened... I tried to back the bike into the parking spot on a street that had a weird angle down towards the river. As soon as I turned the forks to the right to back in, I felt the weight shift too far to the right, and the bike started to go over... and down she went... I had a bad feeling about where we were parking, and my gut was right. A very nice local guy along with my riding partner and I were able to get the bike back up on the stand. I was very amazed and happy to see that the bike was hardly damaged at all? There was a bit of a scrape at the bottom of the bag rail, and the right side mirror was a little fubar. Easy to fix. I was relieved to see that the bag rail and floorboard took the brunt of the fall, with minimal damage. My ego was by far the biggest casualty. I'm still so happy with this bike. Hopefully, this will be a one-time experience, and I will just file this away in the "not an appropriate place to park" file.
