Possibly silly question for those who have installed the OEM saddlebag guards on a 2010: Did you have any difficulty getting the guards to fit?

Last year I acquired a second-hand set of Arizona Victory guards. I was unable to mount them; they didn't fit my right-hand bag no matter how I tried. Alignment of the screw holes was off by 1/4 inch, no matter what we did. (Left-hand bar went on with no trouble.) Eventually I gave up and resold them.

I want to try the OEM guards now. Hubby is afraid of being unable to mount them, too. He wants me to buy them from my dealer and pay the dealer to install 'em -- which means top dollar.

Anybody who has installed these on their own 2010 have trouble doing so? I've got a line on a fairly affordable set off the internet ... but seriously don't want to hear "I told you so" if we have installation problems again.

Would appreciate hearing anybody's experience doing it yourself.

Thanks for your reply, Myfirstvic.

I should have written my original post more clearly.

When I installed the AZ Vic bag guards, I got them screwed into place with only some horsing around. But then I could not mount my right-hand saddlebag.

The holes in the back of the saddlebag thru which the quick-release pins go were misaligned by 1/4 inch. I tried using different screws, then removing the spacer plate ... no help. The only work-around I could think of would have been to start shaving the rubber bumper material off the bottom of the saddlebag to lower it the necessary 1/4 inch so the pins would work again.

Ok I understand, I have the same issue sometimes when I wash my XC and have to install the bags again, it has to do with the correct angle of the bag also the bag has to be not flush againsed the bag bracket has to be a bit of space then lean the bag to the bracket. I can see how with the newguards this can be a hassel because its a tight fit.

Try installing without the lower rubber bumpers first if it fits then its just a matter of what I mentioned above.
