I just got this bike in May. I stopped to fill up at a service station, went to start the bike and it sounded like the battery was dead, I pushed it off and made it home. Checked connections, battery voltage 12.8, and load test. It starts fine when cold but will not start when warmed up unless I push it off

I've experienced a few different starting issues. With 2k on the odometer I have seen in cold weather the bike is a little slower to start. Usually this is due to the fuel pump not fully priming the system. I keep the bike upright, hit the button. The Octane has electronic throttle control so holding the throttle shouldn't be necessary - not sure if it is, makes no difference when I do it.
It usually catches after about 4-5 rotations. I have only had one instance where the battery was drained enough not to start, but I attributed that to me leaving the key on.
Another trick would be to flick the red kill switch once or twice after the fuel pump does its priming cycle. You should hear it shift in tone from a higher frequency to a lower frequency. Then hit the start button.

Not getting much input from the local Polaris dealer in my area. They can't reproduce the issue; "It always starts on the first try for us."
Anyhow - is there a replacement aftermarket starter we can use that maybe has a reduction gear to kick over quicker? Or a high-torque starter designed for higher compression engines?

After the black button on the center of the speedo needle popped off this weekend I went by the dealer. Also brought up that I have to give 2-3 attempts before the bike catches and fires. Otherwise, it'll just crank and crank and crank and crank... I'll drop it off at the end of the month. Under warranty.

Taking mine to the dealer tomorrow AM. Hoping that it's a 24-48 hour job as I have a 4-day weekend and want to be back on 2 wheels by next Wednesday. 3400 miles.
For those of you who had the starter replaced - was it warranty work or out-of-pocket expense?

Update on the replacement starter: It sounds like it's cranking over 10x faster now, higher-pitch to the motor and it catches on the first try. Quite an improvement over the stock starter!
They also replaced the speedometer, which sadly cleared my mileage. At least now I know in 3k more miles it will be time for another oil change
