For what it's worth (not too much), I took a ride down south and rode the new Flying Fortress. It was 42 (felt colder) with winds exceeding 30mph. Forgot my full face and rode with a half helmet....brrrrrrr.
Nice bike-- loved the look. LOTS to love, from the LED lights to the infotainment package to ride control and traction control. Lots of carbon fiber. Nice fit and finish. Wonderful engine! Loved it!
I think I like the California better -- same drivetrain and options, better wind protection and nice floor boards and better handling.
I made a dorky little video just for my VOG buddies to see.
Over all.....with some things like a passenger backrest (not available) and luggage rack (nope!), and better windscreen (yes, they have it) and lowers (none available) it would be a great tourer. The dealer has sold several and have happy customers.
The engine has old fashioned tappets that must be adjusted with a wrench and feeler gauge --which brought back memories-- and that service is every 16k miles.
To compare--the Ducati that has the longest service interval, the Multistrada, gets a mandatory service on the valves every 18k miles for $1000.
The dealer told me, frankly, that Ducati owners really don't ride their bikes very far --- I had to laugh! I told him about our "service" around 70,000 miles when we might need a drive belt...he was amazed at Victory bikes and the miles we could rack up.
