In my State the laws are already in place. Florida Statute 316.293 applies to all vehicles. The noise limits for motorcycles are higher then semi's or cars and it further breaks down motorcycles depending on year of manufacturing. With my swept pipes I am substantially under the limits based on their testing proceedure, so I am good with it. My only question is how they even enforce the Florida Law? The limits given are on moving vehicles, so do you have to do a drive by with the officer testing the vehicle?

Don, Like I said, I'm sure every state has something on the books similar to FS 316.293 but the problem is most have no uniform and realistic way to measure the noise so they go unenforced. The Maine bill provides for a uniform testing method certified the the SAE and I think that's what separates it from most others. To the people bitching about cars, trucks and other motor vehicles, those same laws apply, they always have. Regardless what you may want to believe motorcycles are targeted because they are much larger violators than these other sources, not because they are an easy target. If all offenders were equally at fault it's unlikely motorcycles would be singled out. Another thing to note, most laws included noise standards for all motor vehicles but the acceptable noise levels differ by type. If you break down the Maine law you'll discover certain types of motorcycles are actually allowed to make more noise than others and in most cases more noise than cars. The Maine law makes sense, is fair and provides for uniform measurement and enforcement. It's a law I can live with.
Yep, just backing up what you said. Most people dont realize these laws are in place and have been for many years. I support noise ordinances, the loudest pipes in the world dont bother me, it is the idiots that feel the need to rev up and down that piss me off. So the as always the few jerks will ruin it for everyone.
