I am looking to mount the Victory leather trunk (the one Vic made fro the Kingpin) on my XC. I see that Kewl Metal has one that they say is "predrilled" for my leather trunk. Does anyone else do this?

I would consider buying the color matched unit from Victory but I want to use the trunk 2 or 3 times a year, tops.

You must be talking about this one...

Skip the tiny leather one and go with the hard-body... and definately don't buy a Harley Tour-pak.

I don't know of anyone other thanKewl Metal and Vic making luggage racks that are model specific.

I just installed one of those racks on my XR, it is one helluva good piece of hardware. With the holes it has in it already you should have no problem mounting just about anything to it.I suspect you already have that trunk from the Kingpin and want to use it.

A tip for you if you get this, when installing and putting the screws through the existing saddle bag mounting plates, when installing the bottom screw it it a real tight fit to get your fingers behind the plate and hold both the washer and the nut, I used plain tape and taped the nut to washer and then to the backside of the saddle bag bracket. Made it a lot easier to start the screw. (if that makes sense)

Don't know if you have seen the install video

Correct. That's the product....and I agree I wouldn't buy the HD unit. I would skip the leather but......it's on my KP.

Thanks for the tip, stilcrazee.

Yes. Saw that horrible Youtube video. Questions for you:
1) Did you order direct from KW?
2) How long did it take for the product to arrive?
1. Yes

2. I originally ordered the black but they were out, on back order so I changed to Chrome and I believe they told me it was the lst in stock. that was about 2 weeks ago? Total turn around was about 10 days if my memory is correct. I know there was a slight delay in original response because they were consumed or involved with thefire fighter's deaths from the forest fire. They are right down the street from the fire house thatthose guys were assigned to or from.

Thx for the reply. Is the LUG-01 predrilled for the Kingpin trunk? I see 4 bolts on the top.

Thx

None of ours are pre drilled.

Last comment and follow up:
Bought the Kewl Metal rack.

It is NOT predrilled for the Kingpin trunk anymore. Of course I found that out when it was delivered. They did try and make it right with me but at that moment I had no time to ship it back, wait for them to correct the prob, and go on my trip. Oh yeah, then they needed me to do a mechanical drawing of the trunk so they could drill the holes......screw that. I did it myself. Just remembered I needed a good half hour with a round metal file to make the holes line up properly for the mounts. Probably the last time I order from KM.

Should gone with my instincts and tried Witchdoctors. I've purchased 3 or 4 items from them and every product is extremely well made.
