Has anyone installed semi-hard Victory bags usin quick-release system? on any bike? Is it possible? BAGS link: http://www.donwoodvictory.com/eshopprod_cat_6780-33306-65172_product_1013079.SADDLEBAGS.htm GHOST BRACKET link: http://www.victoryonly.com/ACCESSORIES/ghost_brackets_vegas_kingpin.htm

I had the dealer install soft bags with the quick release system on my 2011 Vegas. One side works great, the other side is a little tight and needs a little adjustment. Good system and works great when washing the bike. The key lock mechanism is kind of hokey, but it works. I recommend it. Enjoy !!

I have those bags on my Kingpin with the standard brackets. I would be very interested in purchasing the ghosts, if they are compatible with my bags. It would be great to take them off to wash the bike, and if I want to go without the bags for a trip. If you do get them I would like to know what you think. Those brackets might be on my Christmas list. Thanks, Rob

I too would like to change the standard brackets for the Ghost Brakeets. Please let me know if anyone has managed to do it.

I have just spoken with "CAO Distributing, Inc." (Distibutors for Gost Brackets) and it looks like the "G3 Model 106" is the one to go for. I will check out my bags and get back to them for conformation & then post the results.

I have Edge Brackets (Ghost brackets) on my Hammer 8-Ball mounting hard bags. 1 thing you'll notice is the gap between the bags and bike (note my pics in the Hammer section) and they will also move somewhat because they're not solidly mounted to the bike, there is some play at the mounting bolts. I personally like that I can remove mine in seconds BUT some people don't like the look because it's not that of a traditional bagger. The brackets are universal so it's up to you to make them work. I ended up fabricating extensions to push my bags further back on the mount to flow with the bike's lines. A Vegas has fender strut bolts that are further back so you should have less difficulty.

Thanks FedByFuel. I placed my order today for the long version of the brackets. The guys at Ghost brackets helped me out with the selection and when I get them I will post pictures. (I expect 2-3 weeks to get them to the UK form the US).

I also have the semi-hard saddlebags on my 2011 Kingpin with the Victory factory brackets. I have used the Edge quick-release brackets on a previous bike and, as stated by FedByFuel, they are not as attractive (gap between the bags and the fender) and they are also not as secure. Has anyone tried mounting the semi-hard bags using dzus fasteners (like on that other American bike)? That would seem to be the ideal compromise as the bags are securely mounted, without a large gap between the bag and the fender, but the bags may be quickly removed for cleaning the back of the bike.

I have the Ghost brackets now (106 model) but it looks like the bags will now sit much too high on the bike. Does anyone have pictures of a Vegas or Kingpin with semi hard bags fitted this way? Also. Does the bracket need cutting to fit the curve of the semi hard bags? Many thanks, Paul.

Paul, I wondered if that would be the case. It looks like the mounts on the bracket are an inch or two higher (25-50mm for Brits) than the standard brackets on my bike now. It would make the bags sit above the fender line, and would screw up the look of the bike. Please keep me posted on any solution you might find for this. Thanks, Rob

It looks that way. I think it may be time for some adjustments, with a saw and grinder, but I will hold on until I'm sure.

On the 2011 Vegas, the top of the semi-hard bags and the ghost brackets, both from Victory, sit between the top of the rear fender and the top of the stock passenger seat. (top of the bags are 1 1/2 inches higher than the fender, 1 1/2 inches lower than the passenger seat pillion) Hope this helps.

The brackets are now fitted and all is well. I orderd the "106" model, but the "105" may have prooved a better selection, as I needed to cut off a litle of the bracket to get a good fit. I also added a flat metal bar, to brace the right hand bag as its design is recessed so that the drive belt & swinging arm misses it, however the brackets hold the bags away from this, so I may fit a box inside the redundant space to hold tools. The fit of the brackets is great they work well and are very stable. I would recomend them to anyone wanting this system for quick release bags.

It's not often I get asked for a picture of my rear....

NOTE: This veiw makes the bags look a litle lopsided on the RH side. This is not the case, it's just how the picture came out. Also this shows the Pilion seat & rack fitted. Changing this over used to take an age with the old supports and now it's a very simple job.
