I still cannot figure out how they never got a solid footing into the Police departments. Being American made with the reliability and maneuvering ability they have. The way those contract bids are worded they could have really done well. Hell if BMW and the Japs, and even Moto Guzzi back in the 70's and 80's did it...they failed miserably by not doing it.

Those sales alone could have buffered the private market and served as its own advertising platform. Maybe @VicVisionBulldog can comment on how those contracts are awarded.

Kinda hard to beat HD and their $1 a year rental on police bikes. Trade it in and rent again for a $1 or buy it outright for cheap at the end of the year. Remember HD itself was doing theirs. A dealership was doing the Police Vics. $20000 for a Vic or a dollar a year for a Harley. You choose.
