It's still happening...

Now that I've ridden over 600 km, it was time to wash the bike since the last time was in the Fall. So I went to my favourite wand wash that I've used for the past 25+ years and gave it the usual decent wash. As I was wiping it dry, a guy on his way to buy more tokens for his wash walked by, then turned around and walked back a few steps. He stopped, took a quick glance, said "NICE BIKE!", gave me a thumbs up and proceeded to get his tokens. It put a really nice smile on my face and I thanked him. His was one of many I've received over the past 6 years of ownership.

Vic bikes still catch the eyes of strangers who elicit nice comments and/or positive gestures who see our bikes the works of art they are. Damn you Polaris.

After washing the smashed bugs off the bike today, I was on my way to do some shopping for liquor, etc. and was stopped at a red light. Even with my ear plugs in, I heard "Nice bike!" and turned to my right to see a guy in a small car giving me approving nods and a thumbs up. I thanked him, then the light changed to green and I rode away. And I still ask myself, "Why did Polaris cancel the brand?" I guess the Polaris bean counters threw all their beans into the Indian pot and we are left owning orphans. Nice, reliable orphans though.

On another note, I bought a H-D branded cooling vest last August in Yakima, WA at the H-D dealer there. I had no idea they existed until a bike club convention attendee told my buddy and I about them. They are the closest thing to A/C while riding the bike. Never leave home without it. I called my local former Vic dealer about the availability of a 3"x2" or so Victory cloth patch that I could sew on the cooling vest in place of the H-D one on there. He said he had 4 and would give me 2 of them. They appear to be some kind of promotional item. It'll adorn my vest and no one will be the wiser.

It happened once again today. Stopped at a red light. A guy next to me nodded his head, smiled and gave me the thumbs up. What's really nice about these gestures is that no one needs to say or do anything. But they do. And we appreciate them very much. I thanked him.

Had a guy pull up next to me at a red light in an awesome 66 Mustang convertible, looked over at me and said "nice bike!"

Get it all the time. Especially on the Stealth now. Wow that bike turns heads. My 11 used To steal the show but when I’m with Honey they look at her bike. Or maybe their looking at her ? Hmmmmmmm :00000549:

Happens all the time.
When I'm on the Vic it's usually a smile, nod, thumbs up or "Great lookin bike".
When I'm on the Guzzi Griso people want to talk because it's an unusual machine that most folks have never heard of.

At last night's club meeting, another member, (a Harley owner) and I were talking and he mentioned that my bike was built for long distance touring. I thought that was cool.

About a week ago, the vice president of the club, (another Harley owner) and I were standing next to my bike talking and he looked down at my bike and said, "Darn, that's a beautiful bike". That made me feel good also.

I never tire of passing on these stranger's gestures. On Thursday while on the highway at 100 kmh, a pick up truck drives up along side me and beeps his horn. I turn to the left and he smiles and gives me the thumbs up. I return it and smile back. I've mentioned before that strangers needn't say or do anything while driving. It's just that some just HAVE TO pass on their feelings about the brand we ride. Keep the bikes clean and shiny and the compliments will keep coming your way.

We've had so much rain that my front yard driveway is a black mud pit.
The Vic has gotten stuck twice & I've had to rock it to get it out.
Real fun when it starts going side ways!!!

So right now she is really filthy & muddy but I still get compliments & some laughs.
