I have a 2012 Vision with 35K miles on it now. The last few rides, I've noticed noise coming from my front wheel when I let off the gas and RPMs hit around 1950-2200. And it doesn't really start until about 15-20 minutes into a ride when the bike's warmed up.

Sounds like bad brakes, but nothing wrong with braking at normal speeds. It really only happens when it seems like the "engine brake" should be engaging. I just had a new tire put on a month ago and thought maybe it was the front bearings, so replaced them last week, but still have the noise.

Thoughts?

You seem to be indicating your problem is engine related because you use rpm's as the reference point. I've had the same problem with a 2011 KP since I got it (new in 2013) but occurs right around 40mph and 25 mph no matter what gear I'm in or even if the engine is running. It sounds like a gravel truck with bad brakes. It's been to the shop 3 times and while the service advisor can hear it as well they can offer no explanation. They've also posted the question on the Polaris technical site with no solution. I'm convinced it's brakes because I can stop some of the noise by moving the front pads off of the rotor. I need a longer clearer hill to do both brakes as it takes a few pumps for them to recover. I'll get back to isolating it further when the bike comes out of hibernation but so far no luck convincing the dealer something needs to be done. Granted, until the problem is specifically identified there's not much to do. It comes off warranty in May so I've got some work to do in the spring.

It's very distracting at slow speeds. Thought it might be brakes as well, but weird to have it happening without braking and at different times, but only when no throttle applied (with or without brakes engaged).

Do you have upgraded Brake Pads? My EBC hum like a cricket - maybe check your vibration damper plate that comes with brake kits, perhaps its not installed. Do you have an upgraded air intake? You can usually hear more intake noise with "open" air boxes.

Edit: If you just added a new tire could they have warped the brake rotor by putting too much torque on the rotor bolts? Known to do that in cars when using pneumatic impact wrenches.

If I'm understand this correctly, braking doesn't change it, and the bearings didn't change it. If you change your front tire pressure, does it make a difference (either in the sound itself, or the speed at which it occurs)?

He's tying it to engine RPM with no throttle so I would be looking at engine or transmission issues. Something loose and vibrating would be the first thing I would look for. The first thing I would be checking is things like cover bolts or even the air cleaner bolts. Anything directly connected to the engine will "feel" it when the engine RPM is at a given value. 2000 RPM is borderline lugging so it may even have something to do with the engine running slower than it should be. Another place to look would be fasteners on the exhaust system.
