How often do you change bikes? Have you found THE bike that is all YOU and you can't imagine riding anything else....or...is the grass always greener? Do you go through withdrawals when there is nothing left to customize? Nothing to look forward to. What about when the new model comes out with more cc's and helical-cut gears....so it's a little better? Do you PLAN to trade up and keep mods to a respectable level, knowing they have no effect on real value? I personally have never, ever had a bike longer than 2 years. I never worry about longevity, or a little wear and tear, because I don't have the bike long enough. I ride about 20k miles a year. Once a bike gets over 20k, it gets real hard to sell, so I ditch it. I owned 5 bikes last year. 3 Harleys and 2 Victorys....trying to find the "right" one. The XRoads fits my lifestyle....'till the next cool Vic or HD shows up....

This will be year 6 coming up for the Kingpin only other mod I can think of doing is Lloydz 109 kit, I have seen 4 bikes I like this year, 15 year Anniversary, CCT, CR Classic and the 2013 HD CVO Road Glide Custom, but I will wait to see how things go. KP works great and can handle all the riding I do at present.

Wow! Beautiful bike! The lowers on the forks add something--and the bat fairing really looks nice.

I'm somewhere around 2yrs per. Some longer, some multiple bikes @ same time. I get bored easy. 21 bikes in 30+yrs.
Usually have my next bike on deck. Test rode Vic's in 2010, when crossbikes showed up. Always preferred CR over CC, when it showed up w/ ABS, cruise, it was time. Next bike will probably be F6B......in a couple yrs

But same wife, 33yrs. Not allowed to change that!
I really cracked up when I read the "signature line" in your post!!! I had just read that poem by Robert Frost....he lived in this area. My wife gives you multiple "thumbs up" for the comment on your wife!

The majority of the respondents keep their bikes 2-3 years and get something different. I would say without counting that the majority of you are more prone to change bikes often, as opposed to finding your identity in it. I always envied the guys who found THE bike. That was it. A match made in heaven--no more looking. I have not been that lucky. The XRoads fills many needs....but.... So, what about "Bike-Worship" where every time you have to stop, you have to get the cloth out and touch up something, and never ride in rain, or salt, or always buy the "best oil" or quality chrome parts..... If we do not keep our bikes any longer than an average of 2-3 years.....why bother?!? I will admit that I am anal about my bikes. Guys love to buy them from me, because they know it will be perfect..... Am I insane? Why do I find so much of myself wrapped up in two cylinders, two wheels and some steel? I definitely need professional help! Lol
