All I can say is WOWWW! I got my Lloyds timing wheel and 1/4 turn throttle ring installed in my bike last night and took it for a test ride. Absolutely unbelieveable the difference in performance. I could actually feel the saddle "suck" my backside down into it with each shift or twist of the throttle (and it was a moderate twist at that). I found the tach at 5000 rpm practically instantly with each shift. Absolutely the best bang for the buck for upgrades to the CCT.
I also want to mention that several years ago I took a severe fall down a flight of stairs and ended up wth two metal plates and 18 screws in my right wrist/hand because I broke every bone in my wrist and several in my hand. Needless to say, after just a few hours of riding my wrist will normally be giving me undesireable feedback in the way of soreness. This throttle ring is definitely going to be ending that issue.
I don't know what has made such a drastic difference in performance.....the timing wheel or the throttle ring (because I did both at the same time).....but my bike is literally like a rocket on wheels now.
I went with the factory setting of +4 on the wheel and the reuseable gasket. Special thanks to Pauljb and his videos. The biggest problem I had was getting the center bolt out of the timing wheel due to the loc-tite the factory uses and the gasket ended up coming off in pieces so I had some clean-up/scraping to do before putting in the new gasket. I never would have thought about cleaning the old loc-tite out of the threads if it had not been for Paul's tip in his video and, because of his tip, the install went relatively smooth. I could only imagine how fun it would have been trying to secure the center bolt had I not cleaned the original loc-tite out of the threads.
For anyone who has been considering either one of these upgrades but has been on the fence about it, all I can say is that they are by far the best upgrades for the money. I have been planning to add the Arlen Ness Big Honkers down the road but I am starting to rethink that now after seeing the improvement in performance just from these upgrades. Plus, now that I have 13k miles on the bike, the factory exhaust has gotten broken in and developed more of decent note to it. Now I just need to pray that the weather allows me to take my bike to work this week so I can really experience the new power and comfort.
