Hi VCU and welcome to The VOG.

As stated above, riding within your limitations is an important factor.

Also, as I have asked others on this site, have you taken the MSF Experienced Rider Class yet? This class will assist you in becoming familiar with the handling characteristics of your bike in a controlled environment.

Good call on not putting the wife on until you are completely comfortable. Again, not speaking for the jackpot guys out there, my M109 has a large rear tire and I do at certain times drive (close your eyes Andy) very agressively.
There's nothing wrong with riding aggressively as long as you're riding within your ability. In fact, sometimes, riding aggressively can be considered riding safely...at least, keeping you out of harm's way.

While I can't speak for others, there's been some situations where I've used somewhat aggressive tactics to stay out of harm's way. As you know, I prefer highway touring, and sometimes you'll see cars that are slowly drifting out of its lane and then quickly correcting its path.

When I would see something like this, I would either slow down to create a larger space cushion or roll on the throttle to catapult a safe distance around the vehicle. I'm wondering if I had seen the flashing blue lights after a maneuver such as this, if an honest explanation would have gotten me out of a ticket.

I'm glad I don't have the answer to this one!

That's my theory.... I figured you gave me enough smack for the record time I made coming to the first VOG event, I would give you some back...lol
Yes, you made the trip in an amazing time!
