I personally have tried it from the left hand side but find that rather awkward as a matter of fact.... I do it from the right side and the only problems I have encountered is from leaky pump nozzles.... I always use some of the paper that is provided by most if not all servos here to wad over the tip of the nozzle as I insert it into the tank opening and while taking it out as well, problem fixed.

I find that by turning the bars almost all the way to the left, there is no hassle really that can not be overcome by just a little diligence on my part.

I will say though, that I do agree with the comments of it could have been designed a bit better as far as the opening angle. And now I think on it, the old Ultra I had had a big round cover that flipped up and then one opened the screw cap, the same kind I have on my car. That huge cap thing opened up backwards as well and I do not recollect ever complaining about that either....

As to using the ness cap thingy, or others for that matter, unless they were lockable I wouldn't pay 5 cents for one, let alone the exorbitant price they want for them..... And if they were, it would mean carrying another key as well....

LOL, please do explain why a motorcycle needs a locking gas cap?

Only those who have the Ness gas cap will understand the high quality of the product. The Ness gas cap is a nice piece of work and in my opinion worth every dollar.

I guess you have never heard of people running out of fuel, then just knocking it off wherever they can. The cars over here this side of the world anyway, have theft prevention necks on the tanks, my motorcycle doesn't.

We have a saying here as well that says, "locks are only to keep honest people out..." Where as this is a true statement, a thief seeing a locked cap and a unlocked capped is because of speed is going to milk the unlocked cap first, thus the chances of being caught is more unlikely.

Most people who stoop to thieving from others in these instances are just looking for a gallon or so to get them to a servo or home, they are not thieving it to go into the wholesale petrol market.

I have watched you posts regularly and see that you are one who loves to have a lot of shiny bling on your bikes, even if it isn't practicable and of course must have plenty of money to be able to support your fetish as well. Most of us cannot just afford to buy stuff for the mere sake it looks shiny and will stand out....

None of your reasoning makes any sense to your direct reply to my post....
