Just turned on my computer and this is the latest from independent news channel here.

Not commenting on the news report content here, but Sky News is as independent as all the rest of Rupert Murdoch's News Group media outlets, Fox News, The Times,(England), The Sun (England), The Australian, The Courier Mail, The Adelaide Advertiser, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Review, the list goes on and on, world wide. Just another billionaire who has concentrated on buying media outlets, with a history of strongly insisting on ideologically consistent editorial policy across the empire, trying to influence worldwide public opinion to agree with his views, very much to his benefit. He gave up his Oz citizenship to comply with US media ownership laws, so he could spread his influence into the US and worldwide. The full list of News Corp media assets is staggering, and freely available on Wikipedia.
His ability to influence what people think worldwide makes Ted Turner look like an amateur.
Good rule of thumb: if they have a billion dollars, they don't have your best interest at heart.
Having said all that, the news report could well be true.

Wait...what? I thought CNN covered EVERYTHING, and NEVER lied to me.

Yeah, well CNNs news should be treated with the same level of scepticism and doubt as Fox News or Sky News for the same reasons. Billionaire owner, with his own agenda, and not your best interests at heart.

Whoa now, are you trying to say that everything you see on TV & the internet may not be true? Come on, that can't be right, next you'll say Santa Clause, mermaids & unicorns aren't real either. Hidden agendas yea right

Well yeah, but more than that. If you find yourself only watching/reading one version of news, and agreeing with it totally, it probably is a good idea to consider what's cause, what's effect. Do you agree because that's all you are aware of? Probably a good idea to take in alternative sources, think about it and walk you own line. This ****s important. Again, this is not comment about the news report of OP, just about the independence of the source, and of all news sources. They all want you to believe what they tell you, for their own reasons.
