I've been browsing the great web for Boardwalks for sale. There are few of them for sale and looking at the BW section of the forums, don't see much talk. Is it because there aren't as many bikes/riders out there, or because they're riding instead of talking? Anybody think they can convince me of a different model (unlikely)?

For those that have/had Boardwalks and other Victory bikes, what are some of the differences, pros/cons?

Thanks!

I don' think there are a lot of Boardwalks out there.
They were only made in 2013/14
That being said my wife has a BW and loves it. I like the looks of it after we got rid of those ridiculous handlebars.
If it weren't for the tube tires I would have bought a BW myself.
I opted for a 2011 Kingpin as it has the tubeless tires and inverted forks.
It is a little taller than the BW also.

I wondered if the spokes were standard or not. That does make me think about it again. I guess changing the rims out isn't that difficult but I also don't think I have a lot of extra cash to start modifying it right away. Forks are another thing to consider. But really nobody likes every little thing about any bike. There's always something we'll want to change. Then something else to match the change. Then... then... then...

Thinking about getting a closeout BW next fall('18) if they're cheap enough. Just can't get by those 3ft wide handlebars (like the Indians). If XC and BW cables are the same length, XC handlebars should swap exact. Maybe rotate the bars up a little like mini apes. Any ideas out there?

I put Kawasaki Nomad bars on both of our bikes.

I'm headed to Phoenix next week and there's a 2013 with low miles for 6500 in Mesa I think. I was considering trying to get over there if it's still for sale and take a look. Private seller. I think there are 2 things I want: floorboards and fat front wheel. I like the look of the vegas but that front wheel is so narrow and I like to get over in corners. I don't particularly care for the feeling when going narrow front, wide rear in the mountains. I really like the Judge as well. I think it there may be more of them to choose from. With the XC and the Gunner (which is only half mine), I think I'd like something to run around town on but the XC is good for that as well, to be honest.

Just don't know what to do, so I'm keeping an eye on bikes on craigslist, cycletrader, ebay to see what pops up.

Even though I have always been a Honda guy, I had decided a couple years ago that I wanted a Vic but never pulled the trigger. I always thought the Vegas with the big fat back tire was one of the coolest looking bikes I ever saw, and still do, but I like to go two up sometimes, like the option of bags, and didn't want to spoil the looks of a Vegas with either option (if that makes sense).
I know I told this story before, but it seems appropriate here so sorry if you have seen this.
Then I saw a white BW at a local dealer, used, with the Vic bags and backrest and I fell in love with the looks. I didn't have the money for that one and I couldn't sell my current bike quick enough to come up with the $ so my search began. I won't bore you with all the details, but it took several months and a lot of searching to find one that was right for me. Cycle trader seems to always have about 30 or so for sale and you really have to expand your CL search or use search tempest to find one on there.
Love the spokes and white walls. Love the fenders. Bummer on tubed tires, but if thats the trade off for spokes then c'est la vie. DO NOT get the hate for the bars but maybe I'm just a clown.
Seems to me I read somewhere they only made 8000 each year and only made it for two years but I don't have any evidence or proof.
IMHO, if you are going to change the rims and tires, or any major change, why would you not just get a judge or kingpin or something that has the looks you want? And more parts! Because even though a lot of the parts are interchangeable there are some that are not and they did not make very many of these. (I'm not talking engine or tranny of course, duh)

I absolutely love the Boardwalk. One of the best looking bikes ever. They were out of production when I finally bought (Hammer S). These are great bikes. I would still pick-up a Boardwalk if I could find a good clean one. If I were you, I would jump !!!!

Yes I believe we were red-headed step children and felt lonely till Ma Polaris kicked us all out the door, Brothers... Estimate less than 1200 built and still think it is right with the King Pin in looks and rides great with the addition of XR risers on the Beach Bars.

Come-on they are gorgeous and the chicks love it...

I really do like the look of the BW and I don't think the spoked wheels would turn me away. I think they look great with the bike. I've also seen that they can be sealed for tubeless but I don't change the tires out myself and I think the cost to replace tires/tubes is not much different than tubeless. Whether or not forks are inverted or not isn't a deal killer either.

I really like the look of the BW and it'll be a solo bike for me. I saw the price come down. But I have to decide if I'll ride it back or have it shipped if I decide to buy it. Will know Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Really appreciating the responses. And I like the idea of having a rare model from an already rare lineup.

This from a King Pin rider!

Boarwalk! A handsome and slightly retro styled scoot!
Not sure where they were going originally when this was brought out,I'm thinking an upgrade or restyle of the Pin,but that does not translate!
It has a most different style and certainly stands out in a parking lot with other bikes around!
The drive train is as we all know worthy the rear shock travel a bit reduced but the difference on a cruise the inverted front shocks will make would take a good bit of skill to realize!
Go for it bud it's a beauty,Jump astride that bastardized and enjoy! If it talks to you you will never regret it!
I got my 09 pin low premium in 09 and to this day enjoy it more everytime I leave my yard! it specks to me!

About 1200 of us by best guess, but hey that is close to 1%...

Here are the differences I have noticed after putting 800 miles on my BW vs my 2003 Vegas:
Ride is very stiff, especially the fromt end.
Bars and obviously wider and promote a slighly leaned fwd ride style. Im 5,10 so Im gunna need to get some risers or dif bars. I like to ride a bit more leaned back. The added power, styling, inst cluster and larger gas tank are amazing. Seat seems a little less padded but it is way roomier. Best decision ever to buy myself a BW. Cant wait to start upgrading it, starting with the pipes and a lloyds controller. Anyone know if the freedom performance swept chrome pipes are unavailable everywhere? The shorter version leaves the rear tire visable? I will try and post a pic but she is bone stock right now but she is still gorgeous to me!!

I believe ma vic, made the boardwalk, too compete with the h.d. deluxe. too bad it wasn't carried in the lineup more years. I had a black bw, it rode great except the bars were too cumbersome in tight situations, and made ya fight the wind when going down a highway. like you become a sail, and have to fight the wind, which wears ya out after a long ride. hcnged out to ness fly bars, much better, more comfortable, and easier to turn in a parking lot.
