I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam. I've read tons of threads and searched my brains out. I had the XC windshield put on my magnum, but the buffeting above 60 is horrible. I'd like the forged bars and hard lowers, but not sure that I like the look on the bike, plus the cost associated. Would the Arlen Ness fork lowers help the buffeting? Or, do I need to suck it up and get the forged bars w/ the hard lowers and/or the Ness fork lowers?

Haven't ran across any threads with anyone my size, any help would be appreciated.
If it's wind from the bottom of the faring your getting then the Ness Fork Guards will eliminate that. I have the Forged Engine guards on my magnum with the JTD lowers but I found a set on ebay that were chrome and since the chrome had been scratched up I got them for 120.00 bucks. I had them powder coated to match the bike and been happy every since. I think if you have the windscreen you want on the bike already try the fork mounted lowers and you should be good to go.

Thanks for all the replies. Think I'm going to try the Ness flip windshield (witch doctors has it with a 30 comfort guarantee, I'll just have to pay return shipping) and the Midwest Customs fork lowers. Hoping he gets the paint for the '16 models in before Daytona in March!
If you have the bike that is pictured. The gloss black guards probably would suffice unless your just looking for a perfect match. I have the Ness flip and it's more of a rounded windscreen. I know windvest offers a descent screen as well and if it's not correct height for you they allow you to return I beleive up to 30 days of taking ownership of it. Just things to consider. I love my Ness flip! I think once you add the fork lowers you will see drastic improvement alone. So the screen will be icing on the cake. Before I put on lowers I noticed most air was coming from bottom of fairing . Give an update once you try out the new screen and lowers. The ness and windvest are pictured so you can see the shape of both.

The klockwerks shield is great. I'm 5'8 on my shorter days. I look just over it not thru it. The Forged Bars came on my 11 so a set of JTD lowers fixed all my buffeting issues. With the KW Flare it's a perfect ride always. The stock XC shield sucks. Wind in the face.
If you think the stock xc shield sucks you should try the stock Magnum shield or blade, lol. Honestly if he wants to look over the shield the Ness flip may be to tall for him. The windvest screen maybe his better option . I have a friend that has the windvest screen and he is like 5"6 and loves it.

Test rode the magnum with the stock shield, there was no way I was leaving the dealership like that. Tried a xc and it was better, but still bad. Had them swap the shields in the deal. I'm waiting to hear back from Midwest about when they'll have the new colors in. If it'll be after Daytona, I'll get the bare metal ones and plastidip them black with the metalizer and glossifier until the paint comes out. Then I'll get them painted locally. No way I can ride more than 100 miles at a time without a break right now. If I'm still getting the buffeting, then I'll try the flip and kw shields.
Your head is getting tossed around huh! Well the lowers should be your answer. However the combo of the shield and lowers will eliminate . I get wind on my pants leg but that I don't mind at all. I can see over the windscreen and I have rode for hours at a time now without issues and no full face helmet. Dang I can't wait till spring, lol.

Got the Midwest Customs fork lowers on yesterday. Did maybe 100 miles between yesterday and today up to 80 mph. There is very minor buffeting starting around 70, but it's not bad at all. I may try another windshield down the road, but I'm happy enough with it for now. Eventually the forged bars and lowers will be on there too, but my money is going towards other stuff now. $300 well spent for the painted lowers. Easy to install, a little bit of a pain to adjust, but well worth it!
I love my lowers. Depending on if you want chrome forged bars or not. I picked up a set of the chrome bars they were scratched up. Had them powder coated and added the JTD lowers . I run the lowers all year round and I have a Ness flip. Bars cost me 120.00 on eBay!

I am only 5'3" . I added the Clock Werks flip shield. It really lightened the buffeting but is a pain to look thru at my height. My vision is right in the dang bend. So I either sit up really straight or I slouch and look thru the shield. I am thinking of getting some Fork deflectors of the Hard lowers and going back to the blade windshield.
If you don't want to look through the windscreen the stock screen for the cross country may be a good fit. Add the fork mounted lowers that witchdoctors sell and you should be good to go. A taller screen isn't always the key to stop buffeting.

Aries, have you installed your forged bars yet? I'd love to see some pics of them on the bike.
Yes I have. The picture on my profile has them installed but I had mine powder coated black. I can send you pictures if you like.

Also if you click on my profile pic it should take you out to allow you to view the pics I have posted in the gallery. It will show you like 4 pictures of the lowers installed with my Forged Bars. If not let me know and I can send you pics.
