I put a new back tire on my bike yesterday. Having never taken a back tire off a bike before I tried to be extra careful and watch what I was doing. Everything went well. Took it for a ride long enough to get some heat built up on the tire and my ABS light comes on. I put it on the jack this morning and the sensor wire was laying against the rotor and rubbed the insulation off. Can someone please tell me what I have done. Have I missed something? Is there a groove or something that the wire is supposed to lay in? Is it possible that by letting the caliber hang, I know I shouldn't have done that but it didnt' seem that heavy, that it may have pulled through a hanger or groove up under the seat? Maybe all I need to do is pull it back the other way. I didn't pay that much attention to the ABS wire because everything came off so easy.

Also if I tape the wire up and if the light goes out do I need to go to a dealer and erase the code. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am headed to the Ozark's in a couple of weeks!!!

My rear sensor needed replaced on my Vision too.
I suffered through 2 years of intermittent faults before finally replacing it.

You're not alone.
Get a new sensor, about 60 bucks
There is a channel in the caliper mounting bracket and it's very easy to get this wire pinched when you're laboring that tire back on.
The wire is not pinched. It has so much slack in it that it rubbed against the rubber till bare wire was showing. Where is the channel? Can you provide me a picture please? That would be a big help. I looked this morning and just didn't see anything.

ABS is fixed. I never saw the channel in the caliber mounting bracket. There is a bracket that is bolted on top of the swing arm with 2 bolts. The wire had all but came out of the channel in that bracket. Thanks for the help everyone.

This was a good learning topic!!!

This is from the manual. Part #15 is the bracket that I found on top of the swing arm. My ABS wire was barely in this bracket. That is what I found to be the problem. I just pulled the slack back out of the wire and pressed it down into the bracket. The bracket in this picture looks like it goes over the wire. The channel is at the bottom in this picture. Not sure if they are making the bracket different now but on my bike the channel was made at the top. Probably would be better if it was the other way. I doubt that the wire would come out then.

I had the ABS light come on for a while after hose washing a couple of years ago and after a while it went off presumably when the affected part dried out. I can't remember if a code came up and self cancelled, but I hope yours did once you fixed the bare wire etc.
I no longer hose wash, more bucket and spray detailer wash, but it is handy to know where one suspect spot is to check if the ABS light comes on again. Thank you for this post topic.
