I am going to hook up my amp but I was thinking... hooking the old one to the new one, wouldn't it fry the new one?

That's called "slaving" one amp to another, this is how guitar players achieve distortion. What do you think?
You would be using one amp as a preamp and It would be over driving the amp... Varying with how much volume you apply to either or.

Not hard, just find the speaker wires coming out of the old amp and connect them to the input of your new and. The output will go to your speakers. Then just find a wire for your remote and you are golden.
