I have owned several atv's over the years, polaris 400 4x4, honda 300, yamaha 350, kaw 220, and now a can-am 400 4x4. All have been good machines with little to no trouble, the two faves are the polaris and can am. Even had a little snow plow business with the polaris outfitted with a 60 inch snowplow, heated grips, and windshield. Put about 150lbs on the rear end and it would push an amazing amount of snow and do it at a fast pace. Same with the can am now with a 54 inch blade.
If mudding is on your agenda, I would suggest some aftermarket tires as they will be the difference between having fun and working your a$$ off digging out a stuck atv.
Poseidon is correct about can am with the rotax engine, they make a lot of power which is needed with mud tires.
Just like motorcycles, get one that suits your needs and have fun with it, they are all capable machines.
