Well it all comes up to you NY Mike. I have recently bought my 2016 Magnum, and have already put on 7,125 miles (this is what I saw when I got on the bike to come to work today) on it already. That is over a month and a half of owning it.

To make a long story short, my wife likes riding on the back and I do not see any issues with riding it at all for long distance. The one thing that I like to keep in mind is that the paint job is already done and there is a 21 inch front tire.

As of right now I am running on my bike:
  • Victory 12-Inch Ape Hangers
  • Kuryakyn Floorboards for Driver and Passenger
  • Avon Grips
  • Stubby Antenna
  • Victory Backrest and Luggage Rack
  • LLoydz 1/4 Turn Throttle Ring
  • LLoydz Timing Wheel (+4)
  • LLoydz VM1 DR HPT Cams (121hp/114tq) (Dynoed by Lloyd at Myrtle Beach Bike Week 2016)
  • LLoydz Air Cleaner
  • Power Commander V
  • Vance & Hines Hi Outputs
  • Tank Lift
  • Klock Werks 10 Inch Windshield
  • Stock Seat.
  • Conquest Customs: Under Drive Pulley (this will be installed this weekend)
Which I find this to be a comfortable ride as of right now. However, there is always the choice of putting Air Ride on the Bike and changing the seat to make it more comfortable for you. This is all up to you.

If the shock is set correctly the magnum rides just as smooth as a regular cc. Guys that say the bike suspension is stiff and drag pipes more than likely don't have the bike setup. I ride with vision riders this weekend and they will tell you no problems at all out of my magnum. Sure you can't compare it to a CCT because it's not one. I have crash bars , back rest and heated grips on mine and I love it. Several guy have put a trunk or backrest on the rear. I use to bottom out and bike ride rough leaving dealer because of the shock was not properly set. Since then I ride and can show you my tires to prove i lean the bike in the twisties. I rode street bikes my whole life so maybe that's the difference. However price wise the CCT or vision may be better suited for you since it comes with a trunk! You would have it in case you need it on long rides or take it off for around town. Either way I hope you get what makes you happy.

Thanks for input I live south of Chicago run about 15000 mi a year when on a trip I like to get there so I've run from here to Denver many times in a day about 1050 miles when on the run from a to b I usually do 7 to 800 a day so comfort is a major thing mite have to look elsewhere

Two up distance riding.

What is a distance ride to you? 400 mile days, 500 mile days, weekend trips?

Two up riding, I am assuming comfort is a priority for your other half.

While you can make a Magnum into what every you like, there might be better choices out there.

Suspension travel IS an issue with the Magnum. on our recent trip we had to ride two up on the Magnum, her response was "I would not ride that for more than a 100 miles" Sharp jolts from bumps and bottomed out regularly on dips. Yes this bike is new and had only 1100 miles on it. Shock was set to 55psi. More than required for the weight of both riders.

Radio and speakers are very good, blue tooth your entertainment into the system.

Bars are just high enough o be cool yet comfortable but they were a it flexible.

Stock windshield was junk for distance riding, installed a Klock Works flip and greatly improved riding.

No highway bars = no tip-over protection.

Stock no backrest for either driver or passenger

Audio controls much like the Indian easy to use.

Bike comes with Cruise control nice fore distance riding.

No Heat in seat or bars.

Big Wheel front end handled fine and low profile tire was very stiff. Not much sidewall for the unexpected pothole.

Entertainment system loud and very clear good quality.

The information comes from two riders who have ridden the same bike for some distance one and two up. Both come to the same conclusion on suspension, and would seek another bike for distance riding/touring.

Not that it makes a difference regarding suspension travel, but was that on the stock magnum seat? If so, I can't imagine going even 100 miles on the back of it.

You could save a few $$$$ buying the XC then make it your own. You won't have to buy a seat. I transformed mine into the ultimate bagger/tourer for me n Honey. Think Dodge Charger SRT8
Black of course.

Motor modified with Lloyds cams and Lloyds parts. PCV and Dyno tuned. She runs strong and much cooler.

For comfort ...... HMD pull backs. JTD lowers and Klock Werks shield. Stock suspension and seat still great after 5 years.

Entertainment...... 300 watt amp bag 6X9 s and Hertz 6.5 up front. Awesome sound. Very happy here.

Then comes the fun part transforming the overall look. I'm still tinkering With more of that. Going for more of a contrast look. Havnt bought a 21" wheel yet. Too many choices.

All in all I have in her about the same $$$$ I would have spent on a new Magnum. Yet there's nothing else like her around here.

So..... Just got back from a 1400 mile run over the past few days. SoS was riding a Magnum, young man and incredibly fit. Magnum is a great hot rod when cam'd at tuned. since the folks at the factory lowered it 1 inch you effectively have only 2inches of suspension when riding. it is stiff and well suited to hotrod thru corners and drag up the straights. seat is smallish but fairly well padded for the driver, passenger unless they are 12, you might want to look at another model. Long story short SoS had a great time and his young body could handle the sharp jolts of limited suspension. I rode it and it handles like a dream but needs more suspension in the rear.

I ride a XCT full on touring machine with a Russell Day Long saddle. Long distance two up this is you machine. Mine might be available soon.
