Well it was a great season up here in Minnesota. I put the battery in the bike back in March and just pulled it out today. In the 7.5 months or so I managed to put another 23,250 miles on my XCT. My bike is about 50% through its expected life with 59,273 miles on the odometer. This year my riding was restricted to MN, IA, ND, WI, and MI.
Unfortunately I did bump into a problem with my charging system this season. After ordering a new regulator/rectifier I discovered that my ground bolt at the front of the engine was only finger tight. I still decided to replace the R/R, the 40-amp breaker, and the battery. I also had my Clearwater Darla's installed and a new clutch cable. Other than that it was tires (two rears and a front) and oil all season long.
Sometimes I'll push my season out to the first weekend in November, but I decided to put her away warm again this year. The clueless weather folks are predicting a few flurries (snow flakes for those of you that get to ride all year) next weekend. I figured I would take advantage of the warm weather and get it all cleaned up and put away for yet another winter. It's always a sad day, but I rather do this on my terms versus procrastinating and having winter sneak up on me.
I don't have a lot of room to spare in my garage, but I do not trust anyone else to store the best toy I've ever owned! I hope you all have had a great season thus far. I look forward to hearing the wrap on your season - or listening to others rub in the fact that they get to ride all year long.
