I don't see a way to get the headlight chrome ring off yet. Everyone says just pull on it, but on a 2014, it looks like it has a bolt on the under side holding it on.
Can someone verify this for me? I can't seem to get it off without a serious amount of tugging.

Work it where the chrome meets the paint. Fingers should be sufficient. It is meant to hold on, don't want it falling off. Kinda scary the first time.
Oh the adjustment screws turn backwards. Left brings it up IIRC. Found that after a lot of frustration. Mine pointed at the ground about 10 feet out and 4 feet left. You'd a thunk they would have at least looked at that during prep.
Good Luck.

Thanks! I got it off... finally with the help of a brand new paint stir stick. It took with it three of the spring clips. One of them remained in the bike. They should put some silicone grease on those things or something, or really adjust the light before leaving the factory maybe? lol
anyway, crisis solved!

A guitar pick or similar (even a mobile phone opening tool) thin but firm plastic does the trick to get the chrome housing off

For $6 -- and I probably had a 20% off coupon, and got a free flashlight -- I got this set from my local Harbor Freight, right after I bought my XCT two years ago: http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-nylon-pry-bar-installer-kit-69668.html . If you don't have a HF by you, the same sort of set is available at many auto parts stores. These nylon pry bars are the nuts for taking off the headlight trim ring and the speaker grills: narrow enough to easily get the job done, and soft enough not to mar anything. Highly recommended.
