I just bought this 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour. What kinda exhaust should I install for louder pipes? What would someone recommend for playing a new IPod or phone on the bike but being able to change a sing if need be

Lots of options these days on pipes and it can be a very personal decision, you will get potentially a lot of feedback but no real universal agreement, also people' suggestions will be what they used and not necessarily a sample of very many choices. When you say louder that is also very subjective. Most all aftermarket pipes are louder than stock but different pipes have different decibel ratings so how loud do you want before its mind splitting? Is performance a criteria?

I went with D&D slip on as when I purchased my bike there was much to choose from. I like them, but I also like the V&H pipes, not available at the time time I upgraded, but I do have experience with them on other bikes in the past with very satisfying results. D&D has two baffle options one is more quiet than the other both are louder. I tried the unwrapped baffle and I thought I was going to go deaf, did not want to wear earplugs to ride my bike, I switched them out to the wrapped, to me it still has a nice growl when you hammer the throttle but not obtrusively loud when just cruising down the highway.

Let the suggestions begin.

Totally agree with BlackCCT, it's all subjective to personal tastes and perceptions when it comes to loudness and perceived performance improvements. A Dyno tune will show a true performance improvement over stock. I've also read that you can take two identical bikes, put all the same modifications on them, Dyno it and still get slight differences between torque and horsepower gains from one bike to the next. Lloydz is a good source for seeing Dynos with various modifications.

I have a set CFR's (Carry Faas Racing) pipes on mine and I love the look and deep bassey rumble. They sound similar to Vance Hines, which I would personally go with if the dealer hadn't already put the CFR's on mine as an upgrade. CFR's are made in Peoria, AZ and take a while to get. Lots of options for sure, just got to look at and hear as many as possible and go for one. The stock ones were pretty lame when I was looking at bikes in 2014, so almost anything is an improvement.

I use the Victory 30 pin adapter with an iPod nano, or I use a 30pin to lighting adapter for the iPhone and run Spotify. Only problem with Spotify is I can switch between playlists, but you can change tracks with the thumb controls. So if you go that route pick a good playlist for the duration of your ride!

Oh yeah, there are several heavy debates on whether two into one or true duals are better and whether baffles or no baffles increase or decrease hp/tq. Good luck sorting through all that mess!

I went with Lloyd's performance Mufflers And they sound great nice rumble Smooth at freeway speed I have all lloyd's Products on my 2012 air cleaner, timing gear, vcf 3 it matches awesome and I don't have to worry about tuning I just call Lloyds up when I have a question I like to keep everything the same and match as for playing iPod you can go to your local dealer in order an adapter then go to Best Buy and get the adapter for an iPhone 5 or 6

As said above,,,very subjective. Heard some D&D's at my dealer, to loud for me but YOU might like. He had some V&H's too, nice but $$. I have Tri ovals. For me I love them as my ears always are ringing. Nice idle rumble, talk to you when you whack it and quit at cruise. Have a good torque curve on dyno tunes. Bought mine good used. $500 shipped. Get a lloydz filter and a tuner , then smile

My triovals sound great to me. Cats are drilled out if that matters.

I have Vance and Hines. Loud (not offensive) and good deep rumble on decel.
Get on my nerves sometimes at higher rpm's light to light. keeping at 2000 to 2500 while cruising great. You'll need high flow filter and
card reprogrammed. They provide added horse power

It's taken a while but I've finally put on my Ragin Cajun XL. They sound great. Now people can hear me coming down the street. Actually set off a couple car alarms. Brothers in my crew can't believe I only spent 185 too. Thanks Dave
