I know nothing about audio equipment, let's establish that now. I have read that the X1 has two amps, one for front and one for rear. Why do folks use one amp when upgrading and not two?

Did you put your second amp in the fairing or in the same spot as the original?

Hawg wired is US made too I believe. Did you get 2, 300 watt amps? Were they marine grade or does that matter in this scenario?

Thanks for the info, hertz 6.5 or 5.25? I watched a video of a guy pooring water into the kicker 6x9...held it like a bowl. SOLD! There may be better sounding lid speakers out there but if they leak what is the point?!

Gotcha. So was it worth the cash and time? My X1 has alpine fronts and is stupid loud, but the clarity at speed leaves much to be desired. The highs will make your ears bleed but the mids and especially the lowes are sad.

Check. I like the install combo you used and I think I will reference this when it it time to complete the audio right. For now I may just get the 300w amp and power the fronts with it. Also will fill the box with polyfill and dynamat the outside of the box. Cheapish upgrade to hold me over for now. I think HMD has HW300w amps for $300... Not bad I think.

In your experience do you think I would be able to piggyback off the above mentioned system without trouble if in the future I had the funds to do your full set up?

I think X-1 is 2X 100W amps, split 4 ways for 50W max to each corner. The alpines are better than stock hands down, and I am told the stock amp won't bring out their best. That is my logic for starting with one HW amp, then getting the rest of the kit when I can. Burnable money on hand is also a big factor.
