I think with the black pipes and swing arm I would leave it black.

 

I would hi-lite to match paint. That would pop it. Or at least bring to painter and piece together theme, even if it were to stay black. Nice ride... Good luck can't wait to see it done.

 

Jackpots would match paint, and 8 balls keep it black.
I would leave it black just because I wouldn't want to try to keep it clean and waxed way down there.

 

My KP had a chrome one and it was a real pain to try to polish, mostly because of the terrible bag design on the Tour I had.

I agree that to keep it black because the blacked out motor. Otherwise I would say chrome.

You could personalize it, depending on theme colors, with a Teflon color, grayish / charcoal, and leave the original paint of a black M, or a microphone. Teflon Mike right? Or I think would really be cool is just have painter skillfully paint the white # 8 on it and shadow the corner to make look rounder with a white like a reflection of the top of an 8 ball. That way it's custom but clear and not personal in the event you ever sell. Also works for any new owner. I always think of reselling sooo. Again good luck and still can't wait for completion. :beer8:

Thanks for everyone's input and please keep it coming. I'm very excited to see what happens with it. It seems I'm not very creative with regards to color schemes, I've very recently found this out about myself.

I'm leaning towards A two tone paint that goes together well. I don't place a huge emphasis of resale in my decision making. I want to like it while I own it, which is hopefully for a very long time, or I wouldn't be putting any money into it at all.

I love the plasma green color of the Magnums. That color is so eye catching to me. Not 100% sure if I want that color. I'm not a hundred percent sure of anything. I'm almost willing to hand it over and say just make it look good. I have my favorite colors. We'll see. I'm stoked.

 

If I was going to paint my bike I would not use factory colors.
It'd be PPG Deltron paint and the hardest clearcoat they sell, or I'd go with their satin paint.

 

Oh and just for the sake of keeping the discussion going, my wife bought me this flashlight for Christmas. This thing is amazing and I cannot recommend it enough. It really came in handy tonight. Here's a little back story.

It's a little ongoing joke that I ask for flashlights for Christmas. I don't know why. I just do. I'm weird, whatever. Well this year I stumbled upon a flashlight thread on one of my other forums. It seems that there is such thing as flashlight snobs. Guys who get off owning the brightest most durable flashlights, lol. Kinda like wine or beer snobs. I didn't know this was a thing until recently. So I checked it out and found there are a lot of weirdos out there like me.

Well, this brand came highly recommended throughout the reading so I put it on the list this year. I got it and checked it out. I turned it on in the dark and was disappointed. I didn't tell her though. Well after fiddling with it for a little while I found it has 3 brightness settings. I had only seen the dimmest power saving setting thus far. Then there was setting 2 which was what I expected out of a high level flash light. Then I switched it to level three and was shocked at how much light this tiny thing emitted. It's insane. The thing is built like a rock and American made too. Check it out if you're in the market and don't mind spending some coIn on a stupid flashlight. FYI, this thing was a hundred bucks and the brand price range goes above 2 grand! I cannot even fathom what that would be like. The brand is surefire.

Also, the dollar bill is for reference on how small this thing is.

Funny you should mention flashlights. I just bought this little thing recently that puts an insane amount of light and has 3 different brightness modes, a strobe and an SOS sequence. Mine isn't as nice as yours there, but it will work for me!

I would leave the belt guard black. No question.

As for body colors, I have always been a fan of like a deep candy red metallic. You can do an interesting 2-tone with black in it as well. Blue and silver work well together also. BMW has some incredible deep blue colors that would work in a black 2-tone scheme.

I also understand the argument that an 8-ball should be Black, so in the spirit of 8-ball you could use a deep, deep ebony that would really pop. I dunno, just some ideas for you. Good luck brother. Pretty exciting stuff, man!

I run 2 small LED driving lights on my XCT (oncoming traffic hates them)

I missed this. Sorry. You know I wouldn't pass you up robsvision. No. It's not my road master. It's my dad's (stepdad, other dad has a road King). I keep it garaged there (and my wife's scout) until my jay Leno garage comes to fruition. Indian makes a hell of a bike, but here I am on the ol Vic site. Actions speak volumes in my opinion.

As for paint. I have a really good guy that has been doing it for years. I'm confident he's among the best if not the best in the region. When I visit, there is an abundance of rarities getting work done there. Really nothing but $100k plus cars from what be seen. Classics and muscle. This guy is legit so I'd feel comfortable saying just do your thing. If anyone wants their bike done in the north or northeast, send me a pm. This guy is cool as hell and has great taste. I should add this disclaimer though. He's a Harley guy.

Currently I'm running two ASP lights, one is none. The ASP Turbo USB and its lil brother. Both are rechargeable and use a micro USB, which is super convenient since my phone does too. They can also run on CR123A barriers as well which again is super handy in my line of work. They are single mode but I prefer that for work. I have several multi function lights but I hate being under stress and trying to operate it, my holster, pistol, finger, mouth, and brain. They are also in a great price range and come with a really nice zip pouch with home and car charges with a retractable charging cord. I picked them up on Amazon.

It seems they also have a new option for the light and gave it two power settings. It looks like you adjust it by twisting the tail cap so you always get the setting you turn the cap to. I think that's a pretty good method. Better than pressing the button like most are.

I would add a link but I can't find the USB Turbo model I have. It's a bit over 600 lumens but all I'm finding is the 300 lumen regular model. Strange. :-/

If your using an 8ball as a base, how about using say a gunmetal so you get a ghosted design. Maybe in satin or suede finish to give slightly more contrast.

 

There's a lot your painter can do using the existing black a base coat ( color ). You can use house of colours candle apple green over the black. To get a dark candy green and use a lighter base like silver or white to get the 2 tone effect. I like the candy reds myself but you mentioned the green and it would be really sharp IMO

 

I think you're right. But I'm pretty dumb when it comes to paint. Can he remove the clear coat and apply a new better one? This thing has swirls up the ying yang and I've no clue how they got there, but I'm sure it's the soft clear coat others mention. There's also a pretty unsighly ding in the rear fender that needs touching up.

I had pipes, s&s and vfc all installed at a dealer (that I no longer use) and said go ahead and throw this mustang seat driver and passenger on while you're at it. So I took it home and after a few months, decided to take the passenger seat off when the wife got her scout. I really enjoy the solo look. So I found a nice little surprise waiting for me under the rear seat. A nice big fat ding that someone probably dropped something on.

 

I know I will most likely never have the spare coin to get the paint job I would want for my bike. I have a few Ideas of how I would like to go but again just a dream =P
I love that my bike is an 8ball. I would love to have some faces blended in, as to look like they are trying to escape the black. and somehow work in the Egyptian god Anubis.
I would like a 2 tone also but haven't seen to many I like. I would want it to really accent the shapeliness of the bike without being to much.

 

Always had shinny bikes but after the HB with the suede finish its so easy to maintain...

Hey, you should be proud of us. We went from paint to flashlights...not oil or tires. That's progress on the VOG!!!

 

I just finished removing the fenders and gas tank. Monday I'll take them to get painted. I don't know what color yet, but I was going to get some ideas from my guy painting it. He's the expert, so I figured I'll take his guidance. Quick question for y'all though. Remove the belt guard and paint it too? I figured it wouldn't hurt to leave it black since the frame, pipes, handlebars etc are black. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the compliment. $1300. It's not inexpensive, but from what I've been looking at, it's middle of the pack price wise, however I don't feel the work done was middle of the pack. It is exceptional.

 

Hell man, I wouldn't put a badge on her... that's like gilding the lily. I never really liked the badges vic has stock on their bikes.. although some of the aftermarket ones that look like script are cool. Seriously tho, with paint that perty why cover it up? Fook 'em if they don't know what it is with those cheese wedges.
