I cant believe what just happened to me today and I wanted to put this on all the Victory forums as well as file a complaint with Polaris.

I just bought my bike a couple weeks ago from out of state since i could not find what i wanted in state. I took it up this morning to Best Buy Vehicles in Ft. Pierce Florida for its 500 mile service. The owner takes a look at my bike and asks me where i got it from. When i told him it was from Connecticut, he literally through me out of the store. He said " Get out-i wont work on your bike since you did not buy it from me!" It blew me away. I was actually in his store a month earlier to buy the vision but he was almost $3000 more than the bike i bought and had a finance rate of 3% higher than i got. He didnt even want to hear that. I thought i was lying to him. On top of that i was planning on installing additional items on the bike. I said that even though i didnt buy it, i was still bringing him service business. He was very unprofessional, among other things, but i will keep this clean. I just wanted to share this with you and warn any one from dealing with him. There is another dealer on the west coast that was shocked with what i told them and they are happy to provide service to me.

There was a dealer like that in San Antonio at one time. They went out of business.

I am sure this guy will be out of business someday soon and blame it on the economy...or Victory...or the banks....anything but his lame way of dealing with customers.

what is incredible is that over time, he would have made more money from me in service and accessories than he would probably have made in selling the bike, not to mention a friend of mine may be looking for a vision......

Nothing new under the sun here. Bought my 09 KP tour from a dealer other than local because of a $1300 price difference. Was told by the service writer at the local dealer not to bring it to them. I guess when these dealers go shopping for product to sell at their dealerships they go to the highest price supplier they can find. It's pathetic. Competition is what free enterprize is supposed to be about isn't it? Or are we consumers missing something here.

I bought mine out of the area also. I stopped at a local dealer and he asked where I got and I told him. Also told that I had called them 3 times and nobody ever called me back. He apologized and I have gotten great service, warranty work and also good prices on exhaust, etc. There are some some good dealers out there!

I see you have named and shamed the dealer which is a step in getting dealers to stop being dumb knocking back business. Now you would not trust that dealer with your bike, so I hope there is another one you can go to. Perhaps polaris could help.

Andy, Isnt Best Buy the place that you raved about??
Are there new owners in place now?? This doesnt make sense that a dealer would turn away a potential customer.
And Darren , i know you, and know that you would have given this dealership a lot of business in add on's.

In this day, given the economic uncertainties, it is surprising to hear that something this horrible could happen. That being said, hopefully this will deter other victory customers from going through the same embarrassing situation. I too purchased my VV out of state, Florida actually, and service my bike locally and receive top-notch service!!!! It pays to treat people as you wish to be treated if you want to survive in this world. Time will tell if this "dealer" is around in the near future. What goes around comes around and Karma is a MF! Shame on Best Buy!!!

Knowing you... You will show him by spending $5k at the other dealer on your first visit! If you need any help, let me know =}

If the dealer deserves this Slam, then by all means slam away. I'm just left scratching my head though. What was it that set him off? Surely this wasn't the FIRST time a customer brought a bike in that he didn't sell.........
Shawn
i have no idea what set him off. maybe he didnt get laid the night before. Literally, i went in, he walked out to the bike and came back in all pissed off and with attitude, then asked me where i got the bike from and then he threw me out. i was totally shocked. When i was there a month earlier to buy his bike, even then i thought they were trying to pull a fast one. i swore they quoted me my payment at $220 per month and when i got there, they wanted $320. I was nice about it though and said that maybe i misunderstood, so i did not leave there on bad terms back then. He was just a real jerk. I am calling Polaris tomorrow to let them know. What is funny is that if you look at his website, it says they give great service to THEIR customers, kind of like screw everyone else who did not buy from them. When I bought my Triumph last year, my dealer told me that i get a discount on parts and on hourly service rates. That i understand, if he wanted to charge me full price to do the work and not discount parts, I am okay with that but he just lost a great potential customer and needless to say, anyone else that is reading this that lives in south florida. This thursday i am riding to the west coast to get the work done at the other dealer who had an amazing attitude on the phone.

Yep, that owner is a piece of work. Claims to be one of the oldest Victory dealers as well as a sales leader and part of the Victory dealer council. Then in the next breath tells me about how Lloyd is a hack and everything he builds blows up...... The guys got serious foot in mouth disease.

I had the opportunity to meet Lloyd in Daytona, he is one of the nicest, low key, and friendliest person I have ever met in the bike industry. He performed my cam modification and my VV, it sounds and runs like a completely different bike. The performance is nothing short of awesome! To be a "sales leader" really isn't a difficult task-WHEN YOU ARE THE ONLY DEALER AROUND... just my .02

While I am not doubting what DrDarren has posted, I do know there's always three sides to every story. I'll attempt to contact this dealership to see if they care to comment on this situation and possibly see if a fence can be mended.

I will state that I didn't purchase my Vision from this dealership as (at that time) I was living further South and this dealer was a bit far away for me. As a sidebar, the dealership I purchased from is no longer a Victory dealership. In fact, Best Buy Polaris is the only dealership in the Southeastern quadrant of the state of Florida...and they aren't even in South Florida...they are located in an area considered The Treasure Coast...it's a different market. FYI, as of now, there is not a Victory dealership in the markets that service Southern Palm Beach County, Broward County, Dade County or the Keys...and that's a big...BIG motorcycle market.

With that said, I do understand the inconvenience DrDarren feels as he now has to travel a very long way for warranty service...I'm guessing it's a 180 mile round trip for him to get from his home to Best Buy Polaris...kinda far for an oil change...especially during this time of the year when the weather-casters are telling us that the heat index is in the triple digits and very humid.

The only service experience I had with Best Buy was very pleasant. In fact, he bailed me out of a potentially inconvenient situation. Read On:

I had a situation where the audio model on my 08 Vision was starting to act up. At that time, it was a known issue on the 08 Visions.

I was just three weeks away from a 1,200 mile trip and I really didn't want to take it on this ride with an audio module that was acting up. So, I called the dealership where I purchased the bike and asked if they could order it for me to have before I left on the trip. I was told...no problem.

Two weeks later, I called to schedule an appointment to have the audio control panel replaced and learned that it wasn't in. I then learned...it hadn't been ordered.

Needless to say, I was not happy.

Since the time I purchased the Vision I had moved and was now equal distance between two dealerships (neither were what I would consider "conveniently located"). So I called the dealership to my North (Best Buy Polaris) and explained my dilemma. I didn't know it at the time, but I was speaking to the owner.

He told me that he was aware of the defective audio modules and had pre-ordered a few extras to have if his customers needed one. This struck me as being a very pro-active move on his part.

I was impressed.

He then told me to drive up at my convenience and they would install it while I waited. I rode up the same day and it was repaired while I waited. And yes, it was covered by the factory warranty.

Needless to say, they earned my future service business on my Vision. I even ended up purchasing the extended warranty from them.

So while I am not doubting DrDarren's accounting, I did not have the same experience with this dealership. But I can understand how personalities can clash and sometimes an episode can escalate out of control...it has happened to all of us at one time or another.

On the other hand, I am not defending the dealership as I truly believe in the old adage: The Customer Is Always Right.

In this day and age, it can be very trying being a seller of any luxury items.

And, as stated, I'll see if I can do anything to smooth-over this situation.

I'm having a pretty serious issue with a trade in at my local dealer...which appears we're heading to court.
Yet, I'm not a big fan of trial by internet.
Perhaps you can circle back with Victory Customer Service, locate the regional sales manager and then address the situation rather than post on the internet.
I know, I know...you're probably blowing off some steam as I'd be pissed as well. Just hate to see a dealer go down without the ability to defend themself on a message board.
Hope things work out!!! Give us an update when things settle....

I looked at a Vision at Randy's before getting my bike. I was impressed with the excellent albeit shop he had there and the staff.
I couldnt afford to get a new bike, even though i really wanted new.
After talking with Andy about his bike we struck a deal and I bought his, (most of you know the story).
After uying the bike from him in Florida and riding it home, the only real choice i had for service was at Randys in (Then) Huntley ,Ill. (Now Marengo,Ill.)
They welcomed me with open arms, and i still get a hug from Debbie (hubba hubba) every time I show up there.
Darren, good luck bud in your situation.

When I was a young kid (22) I got a VERY good business lesson one day from a veteran in our company when he saw how pissed-off I was at a customer. He said "Son, let me tell you something that will serve you well in business. No matter what you think or how angry you get at someone, stay professional. You can say anything you want AFTER you exit the meeting." He never said I was right, and he never said I was wrong. He just "took me to school."

.....18 years later I still remember the exact words of the conversation. The veteran's name was Jim Danner. Some things you just don't forget.

Lesson: we all have emotions and we all have a fuse, but those oh-so critical customer interactions come in 3 minute bursts in life. You can't always be on your "A" game at all times, but you have to make damn sure to keep your "F" game in your pocket.

Darren, I know you and you don't strike me as the kind of person that is out looking to start a fight. Andy, I sure hope you can get some sort of response....no matter what it is. I know of one way to fix this, but I am going to keep that in my pocket for right now.

Andy, although we have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, i have heard great things about you. I am usually the first to say, there are 3 sides to a story, but in this case it is pretty cut and dry(although this comment is coming from one of the sides). Anyway, if you do call him, I am curious to hear what he has to say. Either way, I would never go back to him. Victory lane, although on the west coast is only an extra 20 minute drive compared to Best Buy, so they will get my business. Believe it or not,I am not angry or upset, as much as shocked. In these economic times, like Bakfixr said, why would anyone turn away business? Unfortunately anything i had to do with Best Buy Vehicles was a bad experience. I am glad to hear yours was different, but all it takes is one bad one to create a negative memory.

I am disapointed that that happened to you at Best Buy in Fort Pirece. I bought my Cross Country from them in Dec. and all of my trips up for service have been very pleasureable. As mjw930 said he is the only game in town. I would have bought from the Fort Lauderdale dealer but he got out of Victory at both of his dealers. Just as an aside, Bruce Rossmyers in Pompano closed it doors as well. I called and sent an email to Victory about his abadoned store and actually took pictures. All I got back from Victory was they don't buy dealerships. It would be a great lacation for Victory as it is visible from I 95 and has a new rider range next door. We need a south Florida Victory delaer. Scott at Conquest Customs in Boca has been trying to get Victory to let him do warranty work but that has not happened. He is Victory only customs. WOW. He knows the machines inside and out. I hope Best Buy wakes up and drops the bad attitude.

I didn't mean to stoke the fire with my comments but they are what they are. In talking to Jim for an hour or so I got the impression he's not a bad person but he's old school MC shop, the type that has strong opinions and isn't afraid to share them.

I can certainly understand his position but the smart business decision would have been to do the service, charge a fair price and try to win the person over as a customer to nurture future sales. Sorry to say that doesn't seem to be in Jim's DNA and because of that he will continue to alienate potential customers.

I'm sure, on the flip sire, there are dozens if not hundreds of loyal customers that think Jim's the best guy in the business but in this day and age you can't afford to pull this kind of crap and expect to grow your business. The days of isolation are over and in this time of instant communication one "ah ****" can wipe out years of "atta boys".

So anyone visiting Florida with/on their Victory, I guess Best Buy won't be doing any work for you if you happen to need it, because you bought it elsewhere.
Is this guy a Victory (soup) Nazi?
