I know there’s a lot of guys running a 160/60 rear tire on the front of there Xc with no issue at all. Also some didn’t like the idea of running a rear tire on the front mounted backwards. Just thought I share for those who didn’t know. I found out metzeler is now making a CRUISETEC 160/60 R18 TL 70V M/C, Front wheel.

Wonder if it clears the fender, I am leaning towards going that route when I need new rubber.

Michelin also has a 160/60-18 front tire, been running it on my XC for around 5,000 miles. Really like it so far

Just wondering. Is there any tire being run on the front that is not quite as large ? Something let’s say in between stock size and 160/60-18 ?

@slickvic Pretty sure couple pages back someone showed 140, 150 & the 160 all on same bike.

Does a rear tire have more tread depth compared to a front tire?

I've always heard that to be the case as well as a slightly different compound. I've run a 160/60 Dunlop Road Smart II twice on my CCT now. They fit perfectly without issue and get over 32K, yes 32K, miles with ease. Sadly the Road Smart II isn't made any longer being replaced by the Road Smart II, which is not made in the 160/60 size.

I think KevinX's initial post was regarding the Pirelli Angel ST which is hard to find in 160/60 these days. I'll have to review what the difference is between the Angel ST and the Angel GT.

If anyone finds a current rear 160 that fits the XC please post your findings.

Little off topic but I just ordered a 160 for mine and was wondering for those using dynabeads, how much did yall go with? Stock tire should be 1oz and dynabeads website says 2 for that tire size

Follow the dyna beads recipe. After all your not running the stock tire.
