Well, after 105 years, the Cleveland Indians ball club has caved in to the pressure of many to change the name of the club. The name dates back to 1915.

The Indian Motorcycle Co. dates back to 1901. It doesn't appear to have had any negative connotation when the name was chosen, unlike that of the ball team way back when.

Question: do you think Polaris would succumb to outside pressure to change the name from Indian to some meaningless new one? It sure worked for the Cleveland ball team as well as the Washington Redskins.

Polarass will cave if pressured and rename the brand. Too early in the morning to think of a re-rebrand name.

They could always cave into the pressure and rebrand their name to Victory or something ‍♂️

They worked on acquiring the Indian name for nearly 20 years. Bought the Heritage they felt they needed to compete with HD.

I don't see them changing the name.

I'd say they could change it to freedom based on the engine, but that would make people butt hurt too I imagine

In the case of the ball club, yes, they were trashing the native population. Then the Chief Wahoo cartoon figure added to it, never mind the fan's chop-chop motion when the team scored.

The motorcycle company's choice of brand name came from maybe from drinking too many beers but I don't believe any racial tones were meant. A lighted war bonnet on the front fender is far from being a Chief Wahoo. I wouldn't be surprised if some n'er do well's try to force a name change. Well, they can just go straight to hell. Trying to erase history every which way but loose is totally out of hand now. I understand that the portraits on the $1, $5, $10 and $100 bills were slave owners. Was Grant one as well? Those who are complaining should give up using their country's money, otherwise they are just hypocrites.

I've been living among different native american tribes for the past year and I don't think anyone I've talked to ever had an issue with the Indian brand motorcycle. It's a subtle difference but the motorcycle is seen more as a tribute rather than racist or a slur like the Redskins football or the Indians baseball team. For one, Indian motorcycles doesn't use caricatures in their branding. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I just don't hear anyone complaining about the Indian bikes like they do about the sports teams.

The tribes don't see it as a problem but the Media will latch on to it and extort the company just like they are doing to all the sports teams and brand names. The Media will promote anything that gets them more clicks.

I am so tired of all this Libtard sh#t! Just call them the American Indian Company and be done with it. I wonder what the shoppers will call the day after Thanksgiving this year?
