I ordered the Penske touring shock for my XCT and received it four days later (thanks Scott). Scheduled an install with Nate at Draggin Pipes. Of course we have had good weather for quite a while and the weather decides not to cooperate this time around and it is pissing down rain. I am usually a fair weather rider and don't like to ride in the rain if I don't have to. I did not want to reschedule so I said WTF and drove the One hour one way trip and had Nate install it, and rode back in pouring down rain. Good thing I have new tires on it so I felt somewhat comfortable. Quite a bit of the ride was in heavy traffic so I was just putting along. Anyway hopefully this shock performs for as much as it costs. The install was a little expensive as well but what the hell. Here is to many comfortable miles on this new shock.

By the way, I will be selling my Air shock if anyone is interested. No issues with it. The bike has 35k on it. Let me know if anyone is interested.

@RoguePug One of these days a penske will be under my xct, I like how you can adjust the bikes ride height, sag, compression & rebound. Mate it with their forks & bam, is streettrack ready

This happens often.....For daily riding to work I take off my trunk and ride only 1 up. Then My wife and I go on a day ride with the trunk on. Then a week long ride with the trunk and full luggage, and even a bag on top. As soon as we're back off comes the trunk for daily riding.
With my air shock it's really easy to make an adjustment for load. How easy is it to adjust the Penske, week to week for load?

For the way you ride ……. The factory air shock is perfect. The Penske is a great replacement. IMO it’s more for the solo aggressive twisties rider or maybe someone looki g to se their bike up like a performance Bagger. All the goodies ….. you know ….. cams, tune, exhaust, 1/4 turn, pulley, look at what HD offers in the SG / RG ST models. Olin suspension ? Short bags and now there’s a 2 into 1 pipe option and tune to take you up to the $40k life style.
yeah I would say with the way you ride you got it figure out just fine. As do I.

About the same amount of time, just turning a thumbwheel and lock ring from lightest to heaviest but with added ride height adjustability

Put the fourth straight tank of sunoko non ethanol 90 octane in my xct and man does it truly make a real beneficial difference, by halfway through the 2nd tank you honestly can hear / feel the engine run cleaner, smoother, cooler and just more better. Gain 1-5 mpg’s using it over my normal 87 shell, bp or whatever else ethanol based crap fuel. Love the non ethanol and wish it was more available, I highly recommend it for engines that sit for months at a time while in storage. I fill my lawnmower, generators, weed eaters and the vehicles that get parked for winter and have never had an issue restarting or with runability / drivability even 6 months later.
Got a 278 mile ride in yesterday and it was fabulous, did a wonderful loop to cross lanes west virginia ( the dog race track/ casino ) all on 2 lane state highways or county roads and during our 9 hour excursion seen all the beautifulness our area has to offer. Met some kewl people, saw lots of awesome scenery, had some pretty good food and just whole heartedly enjoyed the $hit out of myself!! Is the only two pics we took

Not to the bike yet but last week I would get to work and spend half hour thawing my fingertips. So, new gerbing heated jacket liner, gloves, harness and dual zone controller have arrived. I'll install the electronics maybe this weekend if not raining too much.

Oh no Penske makes forks for our XCT's
They can rework our existing fork tubes by respringing them for our actual weight, upgrade the valving, use their fluid and it would compliment their shock to make the bike ride and handle even better. Honestly, after upgrading my fluid weight and adding 25ml over stock volume level my front feels close to perfect for us. Very lil dive, soaks up the hard knocks way better, rebounds smoother when getting back on the gas out of corners ( front doesn’t raise way up quickly ) and is still plush enough not to bounce you like a bronco when catch a big pot hole or hit railroad tracks at speed. Great upgrade for price of 1 bottle of fork oil and few hours time.

Noe did my forks and seals not too long ago and added a "better" oil. Mad a big difference as I could feel the road much better, yet still had a very nice traveling ride.

And on that note, I just have to do another testimonial about these bikes. A couple of days ago I was out riding and running down a long stretch of concrete road which seem to have more than a few irregularities ( not terrible, just rough) I noticed how nicely my bike was running along this road and soaking it up and giving me a very smooth and controlled ride. Thinking back and comparing that to my other bikes, it just really makes this one stand out. Love these bikes.

@Bikesofbrads, I wish you would not have said anything about the forks from Conquest Customs...I can't afford another $1500. I am just going to go the heavier fork oil when I change it out in about another 15k miles. What did you use in yours?

Yea, I know, wish I wouldn’t had fallen in lust with those pretty gold fork when I watched the bagger series and I really screwed up after I then searched Penske website. I’m using spectro fork oil 10weight at 506 cc’s / ml’s instead of factory 481 ml / cc and am extremely happy with the feel

Thank you BikeofBrads, I will do the same this spring. I have already winterized my XCT because the cold has already set upon Northern Michigan. Plus we have a new Labrador puppy that is taking up all my spare time. LOL...
