This is just a thread to show mods/share information on mods completed on your XC. Ill get started. My wife made a decal for me and we put it on the bike and painted chin spoiler (spoiler completed about a week ago). Much more to come. Mods if this is not allowed on this, remove at your discretion.forum

I've been horizontal more times than I like to admit. Couple times I pulled the back of the seat out of the slot. It really depends on the angle it's at. I always put it in gear and if it's on the right I grip the brake and put the sidestand down so it doesn't do a 180° flip. It's all about getting your butt down low and pushing with your legs back and up.

Before I bought my first big bike (1983 Honda silverwing) the seller told me he wouldn't sell it to me unless I could pick it up, he was like 70 and I was 19. He showed me once then let me at it. Took a few minutes and cost me $2000 but I got it up.

I've also been inverted twice, it's way more difficult with gas pouring out on you.

Back on subject. This week hit 60k, don't know why it's not higher. A few weeks ago did my first spectro oil change. After about a week, I placed another online order for a 4l jug, I love it, so much better than Rotella. Smoother, quieter, can't complain.

Washed the bike today, I murdered 41,856 insects since the last wash. Placing an order for new tires this weekend, hoping they'll be here before the belt starts showing. Thinking I'll be around 9k on this rear Avon cobra chrome. My 3rd set of avons and have no desire to change. Rear has started breaking free but it's probably less about the rubber and more about WOT halfway through a turn, I use every square inch of tread, I want to get my money's worth. Fronts get about 15k. Also going to order new rear brake pads. I have fronts already here so when the tires get swapped so do the brake pads, about every other tire change. It's cheap insurance.

Last Sunday morning I got up early, made a pot of coffee and while it was perking I decide to go out in the garage and check the air in the tires. Rolling it back and forth a bit the kickstand kicked up and before you know it I'm laying it on it's side gently as possible. Yeah, I know, always sit on the bike when moving. Anyway, I had a hell of a time and couldn't get it back up. Time to go in, get dressed, have a cup of coffee and think about it.
I've had to pick my XR up in these situations a few times and it wasn't a problem but this XCT is a handful.
Ok, boots on, plenty of caffeine and I'm definitely not waking up my wife for a little extra grunt. The hardest part is finding a good hand grab to lift as you're walking it back up. So, I had a brainstorm and used a couple of soft tie down loops to use as pull handles. One on the highway peg and one on the bag rail. Worked pretty good and I was able to walk it back up. Going to keep them in the saddlebag just in case.
Anybody else have any other suggestions on getting these monsters upright?

Take the trunk off before trying to lift it. Makes a big difference.

Great idea on using the soft ties to help right your CCT. I dropped mine in a similar situation in my garage many years ago. The passenger hand grab rails are, imho, one of the best accessories Polaris ever made for the Cross bikes. But I’ll be putting a set of soft ties in the CCT saddlebag just in case.

@lou8700

1. Youtube video
2. Make sure in gear BEFORE lifting

RE #2...I picked my CCT up as instructed in youtube video, worked out great...BUT missed one important step..."PUT IN GEAR"!. I got the bike up nicely...BUT then chased it sideways till let back down. Video would have been great on "THIS WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH" thread :angel2:

Dropped and picked up the XCT about half dozen times. Probably will drop it some more. **** happens. The worst case was trying to cross multiple lanes of traffic leaving work to make a left. Car came from right and my dumbass hit the front brake lever with my wheel turned to left. Dumped over and picked back up all while engine running and rode off. :ROFLMAO:

While not done TODAY. I have ordered Lyndall Gold pads for ALL corners. Centramtic wheel balancers. And an AVON Cobra Chrome for the rear. The front will probably be replaced in the spring. There are a few miles left on it to get $$ out of.
Will report back on the Centramatics... HIPE or YEEHAW, we will find out...

Have on order from WD's one crankcase breather tube, and one injector adaptor. Also from DK's one front and one rear AV91, and AV92 Chrome tires. Already have the Lyndall's and fuel filters. Gonna take her to Noe and have him check/ install as needed. Taking the wife and going to Arkansas for the meet at the end of the month. Don't want any issues.

I had the Centramatic wheel balancers installed on my CCT at the first tire change. That was over 85K miles ago. My tire mileage and wear have always been exceptional.

+1 for centramatic.
Not as many miles as Mark but not bothered with wheel weights since install.

Save it. You now have a spare racing slick.

The only thing an old E4 is good for is practicing parking lot maneuvers. It's not safe for anything close to spirited riding, definitely wouldn't consider taking one on a track. Unless of course it was a drifting competition.

Changed both camchains, as you can see one is stretched 4-5mm!!!! Made a horribble sound in the engine……finally back to normal!!

Nice catch! Do you know from which position the stretched one came?
Just curious if the front or the rear would have a higher tendency to stretch...

It was the front, I have a video here but I cant upload it.
The rear one was fine but since both chains has gone almost 80.000km i thought it would be best to change them both(y)

@Meisen, I don't recall anyone changing the cam chains before. 4 to 5 MM over that length doesn’t sound like a look to me. But again, I could be way off base. Was it as big a job as it sounds like it is? Were the cam chain tensioners fully adjusted and/or worn out ? 4 to 5mm of chain stretch shouldn’t be noticeable with cam chain tensioners. Come to think of it, I don't recall much talk of adjusting the cam chain tensioners either. Were the cam chain gears also worn out?

I have just over 94K miles on my CCT and frankly haven't given the cam chains any thought at all. Many have double or more my mileage and still I haven't read much about cam chains. I've changed the oil and filter every 2500 since it was new so maybe that's helping the cam chains but I tend to doubt that aspect of frequent oil changes.

Your engine must have been making a lot of noise so I'm glad it quieted down after this. Any additional information you can post about doing this would be most helpful. Perhaps the video you mentioned will answer a lot of questions as well.
