This is just a thread to show mods/share information on mods completed on your XC. Ill get started. My wife made a decal for me and we put it on the bike and painted chin spoiler (spoiler completed about a week ago). Much more to come. Mods if this is not allowed on this, remove at your discretion.forum

Drilled holes in Link to lower bike 1".
1/4 turn throttle ring and laydown license plate. The 1/4 turn is probably my best investment.

changed out the stock speakers with MTX THunder52 speakers. closed in the box and added polyfill too. Got me some bass now.
My 2011 XC had the CB installed when I bought it used and it came with 2 used headsets, neither of which worked. Both had opens in at least one speaker. I decided to tear the driver headset apart and make a speaker only system. I cut the coiled cord off and added a 3.5mm stereo male plug to the end (You can buy the same thing from Sena). I them cut off the speakers leaving as much cable as possible. I soldered a 8" long female 3.5mm cable to the speakers and installed them. Sounds great and it cost me all of $12.
I think in the future I'll wire in a bluetooth transmitter to the cable under the seat and go wireless but for my Canvutco trip I'm good to go.

Jay I have the exact same bike. It's a bike made for miles! If you plan on regularly making some long rides get a Russells day-long seat.

I've been having intermittent starting issues for about 2 years. I narrowed it down to the start switch. You have to replace the whole right handlebar switch assy. I found a new one on ebay that was from a Polaris dealer. It was out of the original packing so they sold it as used. $34.99.
So this past weekend my 2011 XC would not start, so I figured it was time to change it out. I'm envisioning having to loosen the throttle cables, remove the fairing...etc, etc.
It literally took 30 minutes! The throttle cables just unsnap and are able to slide up into the housing enough to disconnect from the grip, and you can access the cable connection right behind the headlight. 30 minutes!
The old switch had a lot of corrosion on it, probably from my trip in 2017 riding through pouring rain several days in Oregon. In the future I'd probably spray some WD-40 into that the housing around the switch if I rode in heavy rain.
anyway attached is a pic of the old switch.

Having new Commander III's put on today. Also I installed Garmin Zumo XT. Getting ready for our coast 2 coast 24 day trip. Oil change after my 900 mile camping trip next week. I'm thinking of getting a newer Gopro that uses a remote too.

We're leaving on a coast 2 coast ride in 10 days so I went on a 4 day motorcycle camping trip with some friends, about 860 miles total to check out my new Garmin Zumo XT. What a GPS! I love it. Connects to the XC via bluetooth. My phone then connects to the GPS. I get weather, Wx radar, amazon music, etc. Due to thunderstorms we had to make a last minute change of plans for routes day 3 & 4. I did it all while waiting for breakfast. I had a Nuvi 3597 before. Also installed a Witch Doctors LED headlight. Very bright even in daylight.

This past weekend I put Speedbleeders on my 2011 XC and flushed the brake system. It was long overdue and pretty easy. The old fluid was the color of a nice cold amber.

The right passenger floorboard wouldn't stay up and had a lot of play. I took it apart and found that the plate with holes for the spring-loaded balls was too worn. So I made a new plate out of a piece of steel and replaced the stock pin with a 8mm shoulder bolt and Nylok Nut. The new shoulder bolt was about .008" larger than the stock pin which took up most of the play. It looks good and will be a lot easier to take off in the future. T

I replaced the stock Victory rack with the larger Kuryakyn rack. I went with flat black plugs (siliconed) in the original mounting holes. The chrome just brought attention to the plugs. I'm ready for our trip to Jasper Alberta Canada.
Is there a market for the stock racks?

Put on brake pads. EBC HH
Finally got around to washing my XC after our trip to Jasper Canada. We rode mile after mile on 5 or 6 roads that were under repair, and man do I have a buttload of chips in my paint. Chips in the fairing, fender, and even on the saddlebags. Crap!
Pulled the tank to clean/recharge the air filter and changed the spark plugs. I destroyed one of the wires pulling it off the plug, so had to order a new set from Witchdoctors. The old plugs were iridium with about 40k miles on them. The gap was about .060 so it was time. I just put the stock NGK plugs into it. Look at the rust . I think the stock wires held water down in there not allowing it to dry up. Once I get the new wires I'll definitely use di-electric grease to aid in pulling the wires next time.

Greetings @bobzinger
When we wash our rides, we use compressed air to blow the water out of the spark plug pockets. Found that the plugs do not look as rusty now, with that step, as they did when we first brought home the new-to-us rides. Yes, we changed the plus and used dielectric grease on the boots as well.

Ride safe,
Smokier
That's a great idea. I did put Di-Electric grease on the plug boots and even a little on the outer hex part of the plug.

This happens often.....For daily riding to work I take off my trunk and ride only 1 up. Then My wife and I go on a day ride with the trunk on. Then a week long ride with the trunk and full luggage, and even a bag on top. As soon as we're back off comes the trunk for daily riding.
With my air shock it's really easy to make an adjustment for load. How easy is it to adjust the Penske, week to week for load?
