Vision Lay Down License Plate Frame

6078 18
I have searched high and low and I can't find a low profile/lay down license plate frame for a Vision. Has anyone put one on their Vision? I find it peculiar that I had no problem finding one for my RK and KP and I haven't even seen a picture of one on a Vision. Help!
Thanks, as always, I appreciate all of the suggestions from my fellow Voggers :)

Ness was supposed to have one, but I have never seen it. A couple of guys over on the Vision Riders modified the stoker that worked and looked very good IMO

I did my own. It was really easy. Take the bracket off the fender and put it in a vise, bend the bracket carefully, re-install. Voila, a laydown plate. I framed mine with a common flat black generic frame and it looks good (well I think so anyway).

If you wish to simply purchase a ready made version hook up with Michael in Tuscon at: Michael Seanz @ HEAVY METAL DESIGNZhttp://www.hmd520.com/news.html 520-301-4000

He has a laydown plate for the Vision.

I am building my own also. I took some flimsy metal earlier and made one and have been running with that. I am now making a permanent one. I bought some 1/16" steel, and have cut it they way I want. I am on vacation but when I get back I will weld it together and powder coat it. This is my first powder coat job so we'll see. Also I purchased a lighted license plate frame for legalities.

Scott and Marty,

I did get one from Mike in Tucson (HMD520 in Vogville). It looks great and is very inexpensive. I'll send pics as soon as I get my bike back, I am having Mike tint the front turn signals and wind deflector.

Stock light works sort of when I did the lay down by simply bending the stock mount.

This isn't perfect but better than I had. Also gave me some good practice on welding, I'm good on the thicker stuff but this smaller metal is tougher to find the settings. Found them on the last pass. Lost of grinding. Also this was my first powdercoat job. Could use some cutting and buffing but for this part I'm happy. I disconnected the license plate bulb and connected it to the led frame so now I am legal. I drilled a small hole to let the connector come through the clear lens. Not the best or commercial but due to no where to buy it and the fact that I like to build things my sefl I am happy. By the way that is pearl white for the aluminum and plastic pieces and the aluminum ones are powder coated and glow in the dark. Not that bright, more like the kids glow in the dark stars but still cool.

I have some more things planned but I head to Kuwait in March so things will have to hold off till I get back.

I am under the impression the Kuryakyn model 9198 will work. [link='http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V31OCO/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A122T64JJB9KPU']http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V31OCO/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A122T64JJB9KPU[/link] It has an 8 degree layback and is curved which should look good on Vision. I have not tried one of these so cannot confirm if it's a direct fit or requires any modification.

Running the stock light. Not super efficient,, but it meets legalities, costs nothing, and with all the red running lighting at the rear of the VV, ...
