Vision got slammed with...................

4255 17
I went on a 2 day trip from home in Ohio to Seneca Casino in NY with a friend (her name we will not say). This is the longest farthest ride I have taken since bringing this awsome machine back to life. It was about 250 miles and a little over 3 hrs one way(speeding). Let me say the bike ran perfect and the only thing was, when ever I went over 75mph the fuel milage went from 41 to 35 I find that odd but alot of you guy's might be able to tell me why on that I hope. Other than that she fly's. I had it loaded down to full max with gear. I had the cd's going in the truck (I just got the cd player last week and love it for $195) both seats on, the hand grips cooking and the HID light blazing like the sun. It was a great over nighter and the casino is beautiful and I won a little money to boot. On the way back I stopped in Buffalo for fuel and as soon as I pulled off the highway I got slammed with looks. It was like I was a one man Vision parade. It was like someone said the show is coming to town and here it is. Everyone walking or talking standing or parked just stopped what they were doing and watched me drive down the road. I have never seen anything like it. I have been riding this bike since March and not one day has gone by without someone somewhere giving me a knod thumbs up or talked to me not one day but this was unreal. My passenger said what the hell are they looking at and I said that, the look on their faces was the looks of someone seeing the Vision for the first time. She said really and I said thats what I did 3 years ago. What a great ride I had and hopefully many more just like that.

Welcome to the Club.....

BTW, pay no attention to the fuel mileage thingy....it's worthless. Just ride.

I just did 1,200 from Maine to North Carolina averaging 75MPH plus.
Bike got 45MPG for the trip. I am a large guy and was loaded with gear.
I use my Itouch for music. Have over 2,900 songs with playlists for myself, my wife and my two boys.

phoenix9 the mileage is right on the money on my Vision. I have checked against the amount I put in the tank its always within a mile or 2.
Dain,

Sorry, but I mis-read your post....I thought you were talking about the "instant mileage" selection, not the "average". I agree, mine is accurate within 1 MPG. I will say that I have the S1L2 pipes and I have never gotten better than 41-42 MPG ever. I have a pretty heavy throttle hand and I usually get 38-40 MPG. Don't know if its my bike, or pipes, or tuning but I have NEVER seen mileage numbers like some of the other guys.

I have found that Vision mileage is very dependant on how much you jump on the throttle (at least with my bike).
If I take it easy and just cruise, I can average right around 50 mpg on the highway. If I am jumping on the throttle a lot, then that number drops into the high 30's low 40's.
My typical riding is on the back roads with a lot of hills and enough throttle to keep up with traffic (when there is any). On an average ride, I usually stay somewhere between 42 and 45 mpg. The only thing I have added to my bike is the S1L2 exhaust.

Funny when I put on my S1L1 every thing says lean. Lean to me would be 50 plus mpg.
I think with 2 EFI body's you would get good mileage but guess not.
I am going to buy the power commander V cause it learns as you drive. Maybe I will get close to 50 with it. I just traded in my 09 harley for my vision and I only got around 44 MPG and harley says I should get more all I have to do is but there tuner. "not"

Wouldn't gas mileage, regardless of bike, be on the higher side if you got into higher gears sooner? (as long as you aren't lugging the motor in 6th gear).
Did a ride a few weeks back on the KP and the route was such that I was able to get into 6th frequently at just over 60mph which seems to be my motor's minimum comfort zone in 6th. Gas mileage was +3 from previous rides when I was pretty much confined to 5th gear tops. Actually had 1 leg of the ride that I got 50mpg on that tank full. My norm is 41-43.

My norm is 41 also, but when you get her up to 80mph the fuel milage drops drasticly. I talked to Lloyd Greer and he said the same thing as I thought. Once you get above cruzing speed it takes fuel to keep her going. I am also, over the winter, swapping out the cams and the intake plate and add a fuel controller. That will give it milage and some more power to boot. I live in the northeast ohio area and my HD shop has just added Victory to their product line along with the Harleys so I wouldnt trust them to do a cam change. Besides Lloyd gave me the run-down on what to watch out for while doing it. I also found out that I have a S1L1 exhaust with gatlins tips on the bike now. So I am told that should make the bike scream when I need it to and my milage should increase to around 43 to 46 mpg also.

I get better mpg’s in 5th gear @ 2300 rpm’s ( I think, has been two months since could ride ) running 62 mph than I do in 6th gear @ 2000 rpm’s running 62 mph. Is sweet spot in the tune, these bikes really do prefer a lil more rev than to lug.

Stumbled across this eleven year old thread that showed up in the related topics at the bottom of the page. Sometimes it's fun to look at these and see some of the old time members that come and go. Anyway, @Dain I see your still around. How is the Vision doing? Mileage get any better?
I like reading old threads and posts, good on ya

Lou no cause I can't stay off the throttle lol. But still here make tons of parts for all bike and starting to make custom exhaust for the vision.
