The directions that came with mine said no oil so for me there's no varied opinion it's fact.

It won't hurt to oil it and frankly I think it's the right thing to do. The first Lloydz filters like I have they said to oil. Then they change on the newer ones that look identical and say don't need to oil it. Frankly with a foam washable filter, lightly oiled is the way to go IMHO. I had the stage 1 filter and ditched it for the Lloydz, much better throttle response and power.

Oil it. It should be done sparingly just like and filter of the type. Oil catches the fine particles.
If you aren't going to oil it, you might as well leave it on the garage floor.

The instructions not to oil it are for initial install when new. It is already done and doesn't need to be done again.
    YMMV

Post #10 "No re-oiling is nesessary"

We have this debate every now and then all that needs to be done is read the direction that come with your new filter.

Use only Lloydz for performance. Why ??? Because he’s the only one that makes one for our cross bikes.

The stage 1 filter is a K&N but that's not what you want. For a performance increase go with the Lloydz filter.
