Oh for sure mate, for sure.
The body could've soldiered on for another year or two...but the madness was what got me.
    Combinations of everyday consumption of
Booze, Speed, Acid and Pot just weren't getting me off any more.
Drove it hard for 27 years
    In the end, well
Once it had me by the nuts it all stopped working...No Joy.
    No way out.....
I picked up the phone after a 3 day binge and asked for help.
    10 Jan 1999
That's the year Victory started and we know what date they stopped.
    Coincidences hey!

This could be a real thing for you MbX, every funny town you come across, take a picture with angry-tweety in front of it, and we can all laugh at the nice names ?

    Ha ha

No. Oz had many local indigenous languages, with a lot of regional variation across quite short distances.
Most of these place names are how the locals said Piss Off! 200 years ago.

Mate, I live 140 km inland from the Sunny Coast now, which is why it's dropping to 2°C at night now. It was bloody cold the other night riding back home at 3am.

    Might wait till summer then
We are off to Willowbank Raceway this Sunday for the last day of the Winternationals , for the Top Fuel Experience!
Myself Ive known it since the age of 15, but my lady, Tilly is unprepared for what's about to assault all of her senses all at once.
Plus a full field of all the other classes of racing.
Andrew Badcock(Fred) the bloke who had dynoed my old Vegas and my current XC is racing in Pro Stock bike.
Also the bodywork on my '61 Dodge Lancer is finished and now in hi fill primer for the second time, the first being last week prior to a block down with 120 grit to find any imperfections.

Nice work on the Dodge, considering it's original condition.
    Is Tilly taking earplugs?
Haven't been to a Top Fuel event since the Surfers Paradise strip shut down. Long time ago!
I've been trying to remember what shop ride we met on. I think I remember talking with you outside the dealers, your Vegas parked next another Steve's High Ball running Torque Tubes, PC and timing wheel. That might have been a ride to Mt Mee, dunno, I did have a good time in the 70's and later and it left its scars. Maybe also at Joe's Garage, near Toowoomba?

Fingers in the ears works okay, When I take my kids I give them workshop earmuffs to wear.
They're great if they wanna film anything too, it's hard to film with fingers in ears.
Surfers Paradise Dragway was my first taste of Nitro and drag racing too..
We met on a shop ride that went to a pub for lunch out past Esk on way to Toowoomba, can't remember the name of the town or the pub.
You had the dark side on the Hardball as I remember and it had a fair bit of mud on it.
Just heard some Victorians escaped thier state and drove up through NSW to the Sunny Coast and then tested positive to the woo flu...So I wouldn't be surprised if the states start shutting borders and that'll be the end of the Winternationals..Hope I'm wrong!

OK, thanks. The Meringandan ride. That was early in my Darkside days where I copped so much crap of the won't go round corners sort that I was pushing it a bit hard on mountain roads, following Ray from the shop up the range from Esk, and letting him see me in his mirrors as the Vegas he was riding was on its cornering clearance limits.
Stopped to mark the corner at the Perseverance Dam road, then cut through the pack again until a bloke riding a Boardwalk not wanting to be passed ran out of clearance then off the corner into the trees. Good rider, dodged the trees and got back on the road without stopping. I stopped to see if he was OK, then passed him up the range. One bloke who had told me it wouldn't go round corners at Esk felt that he had to tell me "You're mad you bastard, gonna kill yourself." in the pub carpark at Meringindan. All in all, a good ride, great pub lunch, 3 light beers, good yarns over lunch, nice ride back to Obi.
I lost the Darkside chip on my shoulder later, then discovered Michelin Primacies, that felt way more secure in fast bends cornering on the edges of the chin fairing.
You'll have to try the HardBall, for it's odd mix of great clearance and handling, and bad attitude. The Dirty Love's song the used in the video clip for them said it right, Face the world with you fists held high......
Shame that Tasmanian band packed up and moved to Canada.

Thanks for the images. Great looking bike and it would be a pleasure to go for a ride with you.
So.....why is it called the Victory Hotel? Well...the story goes like this:
Back in the recent Dreamtime, the towns of Mooball and Burringbar were locked into a bit of a battle because the brewery wanted to have a pub in the area.
Eventually, the brewery decided on Mooball and the town decided to call the pub "Victory".
Why did the brewery decide on Mooball? Well...speculation has it that the brewery considered that the road outside Mooball was straiter than the section going through Burringbar and there was a corner going to the coast which would attract more traffic.
You can add this to other bits of useless information you have accumulated.
As an aside, I haven't seen a "Victory" hotel in SA. But, to be honest, I haven't checked out every town. I'm not a pub bloke.

Aww c'mon what's a lazy 1200 km round trip to a Victory rider?
Wonder if we got any South Aussies in here live close to this landmark?
